Does 1994 Plymouth Laser have fuel pump problems?

After bumping a curb (not very hard) turning right my 1994 Plymouth Laser shut off - when I tried to start the car again it wouldn't turn over - sounded as though there was no fuel although I had over 1/4 tank of gas it - battery is fine as someone gave me a boost but didn't start the vehicle - it is as though the bump garred something and it needs to be reset - the question is what. Thanks for helping.

I think you may be on the right track .. I din't know plymuoth very well but the older Jaguar had that feature when there was a bump near the fuel tanks it would shut off the fuel ... perhaps your car has a similar switch... ask a dealer .. asking is free

No power from the relay to fuel pump a 1995 holden rodeo

Look in your owners manual. Look for a fuel inertia switch...Or fuel shut off switch..These are designed to cut off power to your fuel source in case of accident.....Sometimes hitting a hard bump or curb, can trigger the switch......Hope it helps...

I hit a bump and the car 94 Voyager 3.0 shutoff and now will not start?

Check the fuel pump relay in the "fuse center" under the hood, there is also a fuse for the fuel pump in the same fuse box.

Drove mpv off curb/ sidewalk, wont start now, turns over but suddenly wont start! Is there a switch somewhere that shuts off fuel system that needs to be reset, from the hard hit?

there is a fuel cut off, you will need to reset it:

The fuel pump relay is located under the carpet on the passenger side (front). Remove the kick panel and the door runner lift carpet. It is to the right of the PCM (computer). Good Luck Tim

When i turn the key my car wont start so i replaced the starter.Still no start.I bumped the starter and it starts and shuts right off???Any ideas.

Does it run for a second and then die? It might be fuel related. Check the fuel pump. Check your fuses. Make sure you are getting a spark too. What all have you checked? Let me knw, I am here to help. Being broke down sucks.

Cost of replacing fuel pump

Since this vehicle, (1994 Plymouth Voyager), is fuel injected, the fule pump assembly is located within the fuel tank. Replacement cost will vary, depending on your ability to lower the fuel tank and replace the part yourself. The fuel pump assembly ranges in price, from $95, to $140, depending on where you purchase it. The particular parts suppliers I use on a regular basis have listings for the fuel pump assembly, so finding a replacement part won't be hard at all. Though I haven't replaced a fuel pump in this exact vehicle, typically chrysler/plymouth/dodge, vehicles don't require any special tools to disconnect fuel lines, electrical connecters, and remove assembly from tank. Note: if you do this yourself, do NOT, cross-thread the pump locking ring, if it is a screw on type, as this WILL result in fuel leakage! If you have to have a repair facility do this work, I would estimate about 200 dollars in labor charges, (that's what I'd charge a customer in my shop) So, you should be looking at no more than $350, to $400 max with part and labor.

Car suddenly won't start. Engine turns over but isn't getting fire or fuel. What could the problem be? It isn't the timing belt or the battery.

Sounds like the fuel pump has shut off. Can you hear it run when you switch on the key? Your fire comes from the coil pac or the ignitor, whichever you have there, both go bad at any given time. I would pull a plug, check for the spark, then squirt some fuel in the piston, put the plug back in, see if it fires, Did you bump anything, get towed? Hit a curb? Something to trip the fuel shut off. Check the oil while you are at it. Then look for the anti theft device, if it has one, make sure it is OK , Hope this helps.

On my 1994 plymouth voyager the 3 wire harness to fuel pump (blue wire) doesn't have 12 volts; should it? fuel pump quit then worked once when hot-wired with 12 volts. fuse and relay is good.

The wire should not be hot until the relay is triggered. The relay does not get triggered until the ignition key is turned on. It will run for 3-5 seconds or until the system pressure it at max.
