Having problems with 96 eldorado. analog and theft deterrence

Having problems with 96 eldorado. The head lights and dash lights flash on and off the analog needled will will stop working or sometimes just go crazy like in a pinball machine. And it kills a few seconds after start. This has been going on intermittently for well over a year. Is this all tied in with the theft deterrent or is this two separate issues and what has to be replaced?

2007 chevy impala service theft deterrent issues

In most cases the theft deterrent system in your 2007 Chevrolet Impala will reset itself in 10 minutes. You can also remove the fuse for 10 seconds and replace it to reset the system.

Need to know where the tdm is on a 1997 Cadillac deville can't get security system to shut off should I replace ecm ? Please help

It's hard to get the SECURITY light to go off when you don't know how it works ! Replacing the PCM could cause you more problems too . If a replacement PCM is being installed it must be programmed (flashed) using the latest Techline programming procedures.
Having the vehicle check for DTC ' S - diagnostic trouble codes would be the first step.
DTC P1626 Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Lost
DTC P1630 Theft Deterrent Learn Mode Active
DTC P1631 Theft Deterrent Start Enable Signal Not Correct
DTC P1632 Theft Deterrent Fuel Disable Signal Received

This anti-theft system does not use a TDM - theft deterrent module . The instrument cluster is the controlling module . Look at a wiring diagram here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model engine . Then under systems click on body & accessories , then in subsystem click on security / anti-theft . Click the search button , then on the blue link .You mite be able to do a by-pass if the contacts inside the key lock cylinder is the problem . You can check it with ohm meter . The key has a resistor pellet on the side , you can check the value with ohm meter , find the two wires under the dash at the steering column . Two white wires inside a yellow or orange sheathing . There are videos on youtube !

Car battery low, theft deterrent engaged, and lights wont go off

A weak battery will cause a multitude of problems. Best thing to do is to start with that. Have a auto parts store load test the battery.

97 cutless supreme it will start and only run about 10 seconds then die

Does it have anti-theft system ?
The vehicle theft deterrent system is designed in order to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the fuel injectors unless the lock cylinder is correctly engaged by a mechanical key. The theft deterrent system uses the following 4 components for theft prevention:
• The lock cylinder
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM) Do you have a SECURITY light lit on the dash ?

I have a explore 2004 4dr 4.0 and It wont crank. starter good battery good. Us it the pats system and how do I check

Is there a little red light on the top center of dash pad ? Does it flash fast when trying to start the vehicle ?
PATS uses a visual theft indicator located on top of the instrument panel. This indicator will prove out for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to ON or START under normal operation. If there is a PATS problem, this indicator will either flash rapidly or glow steadily (for more than 3 seconds) when the ignition switch is turned to ON or START. PATS also "flashes" the theft indicator every 2 seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual theft deterrent.

Changed steering column n won't atrt

Where is the ignition switch at , on the steering column ? Did you transfer the theft deterrent control module from the old column to the new one ? Do you have any lights lit on the dash , SECURITY ? Your car has a anti-theft system , the key has a transponder pellet imbedded in the head of it . Behind the plastic cover of the steering column ,around the ignition lock cylinder is the theft deterrent control module an antenna !
The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. The VTD system prevents vehicle operation if a valid (learned) transponder PASS-Key?®III (PK3) ignition key is not used to start the vehicle. The theft deterrent control module has an exciter that is part of the theft deterrent control module as an assembly. The PK3 key has a transponder embedded in the plastic head of the key. The exciter is an antenna which is made up of wire coils which surround the ignition lock cylinder. The PCM enables the engines starter and fuel delivery system when it receives a valid (learned) password from the theft deterrent control module via the class 2 serial data circuit. The components of the VTD system are as follows:

Why didn't you take it to the cadillac dealer an have it fixed the proper way ? Not trying some st**id by-pass . You have no idea of the complexity of that vehicle . Computers talk to other computes .signals from the ignition switch to the BCM , BCM sends message on the class two serial data network . This car is nothing like caddys of the 80's ,an they too had thier own complexity ! I was working at a caddy dealer in the 80's .
The body control system consists of the following 2 modules:
• The Dash Integration Module (DIM)
• The Rear Integration Module (RIM)

You people make more problems trying by-pass cr*p , then it would to fix it the proper way .
The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory, learned key code. If the value is correct the theft deterrent control module sends a random generated number to the transponder, this is called a challenge. Both the transponder and the theft deterrent control module perform a calculation on the challenge, if the calculations match the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel continue password via the serial data circuit to the engine control module (ECM). If either the transponders unique value or the calculation to the challenge is incorrect the theft deterrent control module will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit. The components of the VTD system are as follows:
• The theft deterrent control module
• The engine control module (ECM)
• The ignition key (transponder)
• The ignition lock cylinder
• The security indicator

Security Module location

Does the SECURITY light on the instrument cluster flash or is it on steady ? The problem with this system is the contacts inside the key lock cylinder wear causing this problem ! It's not the module more then likely ! This system you can do a by-pass on ! Measure the resistance of the pellet on the key , go to radio shack buy resistors to = the key pellet resistance . Find the wires from the ignition lock cylinder under the dash , disconnect the connector from the dash wiring harness an solder the resistors into the dash wiring , not to the lock cylinder . There are videos on youtube showing how to do this by-pass .
When a key is inserted in the ignition, contacts that are located in the steering column (ignition) lock cylinder contact a resistor pellet located in the ignition key. The theft deterrent module measures the resistance of the key pellet. The module compares this value to a value stored in memory. The theft deterrent module then performs one of the following functions:
• If the values match, the theft deterrent module performs the following system enable functions:
• The module provides a ground for the theft deterrent relay at terminal A4 (CKT 625, YEL/BLK). The ground enables the starter to operate.
• The module sends a proper pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to the PCM. The signal travels via CKT 229 (DK BLU), terminal A3. When the PCM receives this input, it enables the fuel delivery system.
• If the values do not match, the theft deterrent module performs the following system disable functions for approximately three minutes:
• No ground is provided to the theft deterrent relay. The starter is disabled.
• No command is given to the PCM in order to enable the fuel delivery system.

Car starts, runs for 10 to 15 seconds and shuts of, dash read out says security problem , engine may not start ! I have a 1998 cadillac eldorado ! remote control only works on opening trunk trunk. also...

What you will need to do is get the theft deterrent codes read. This will help in finding the problem. You will probably have a B 2960.The problem is usually the ignition lock cylinder. This reads the key and if it sees the correct code it allows fuel to the motor. What usually happens is the wires break from the ignition cylinder being turned on and off all the time.Hope this helps.Good luck.
