You will need to have the parking brake adjusted to the minimum clearance possible and double check the shoes & drum while off.

It sounds as though the shoes are loose, they move forward, grab & unil you center the brakes by applying them and then they release until put into a bind again.

These usually don't get adjusted or even looked at since they are hidden inside the brake rotor hub on the rear wheels.

good luck.

Check brakes if disk in back check e-brake pads for binding-check caliper possible faulty and is engaging --if drum pull and check for debris or shoes not properly retained sometimes one of the retaining springs break and get stuck between shoe and drum make a mess if brakes look good other location for problem would be the rear possible broken gear

2010 Chevy silverado Rear wheel dragging on turns

if you have a limited slip differential or a diff locker in action , that is what will happen if the unit is locked up
if you do not have anything but a normal diff, it indicates gear failure and the side gears ( spider gears ) have metal in the teeth and are jammed

Sounds to me like you have a bad front hub. The good news is that the wheel speed sensors are part of the wheel hubs. The tricky part can be to figure out which side is bad. If the noise is worse when turning right, it is most likely the left side that is bad. You could try jacking up each corner and shaking the wheels to see if there is any play.

My antilock brakes are activating at low speed stops 97 silverado K1500

From pads may be low causing the rear brakes to over brake and the anti-lock kicks in. Could be a sticking caliper piston and last the proportioning valve may need bleeding as it is offset.....

2004 chev silverado ext cab. No Power steering

Hi Hollings,

You description was very good, I need to ask for a specific.

When you turn to the left, the wheel is stiff like the engine is off or does it turn smoothly but the vehicle doesn't turn or seem to respond.

I'm trying to rule out broken mounts,

Also, if the wheel is all the way to the right, is it difficult turning back to the left the whole way, or half way. See where I'm going.?

Please comment back your findings

Best regards
Mike
