How do you reset the ecu on a 1987 Jeep Comanche, 4.0 liter?

  • Anonymous Feb 13, 2010

Engine won't start, replaced tps, cps, distributor cap, plugs / wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, idle stepper motor, timingchain n gears as well. Tested injectors, NAPA said theyre good. Ran fine, one day it just sputtered and died. How do you test the ecu? Or determine if faulty? ANy help is great. Thanks.

We just changed out the control panel for my 1987 jeep comanche and it will not blow out heat There was 5 prongs and 4 wires is there a digram for this installation

Sure it was the switch? there are three things that go bad on the heaters. First thing is the blower resistor. the second is the blower motor and third is the switch. The go bad in that order most of the times. I replace a lot of resistors, some blowers and rarely the control panel/switch.

87 Jeep Comanche, turn signal issues

You will find that there are two flasher units on the fuse panel. Turn on the four ways to identify which flasher serves that circuit. Then, move the flasher to the other position (where the signal flasher is) Your directionals should then work. You then can buy another flasher and install it when you have a chance, putting it in the 4 way position. The 4 ways get used so infrequently, you always have a reliable spare signal flasher there!

1987 jeep comanche 2.5L (gas). Engine died

Do you have a rpm guage? If so see is it moves when cranking, if not the crankshaft sensor is bad and is located on top of the transmission bell housing. Also it can be scanned to confirm a faulty sensor
