My 2000 ford focus hesitates and as lack in power when i accelerate to pass a car

its fluding with fuel, change air filter and plugs and wires

SOUND LIKE WEAK PRESSURE PLATE SPRINGS OR CONTAMINATED FLYWHEEL AND PRESSURE PLATE SURFACE HAS OIL ON IT..BESURE TO CLEAN FLYWHEEL AND PRESSURE PLATE MACHINE SURFACES WITH BRAKE PARTS CLEANER.

One of the air intake pipes had come loose. Fastened the jubilee clip back up and it was like having a new car!

it may be your fuel pump not working properly also check your fuel pump relay

Is this when the engine's cold? check the auto choke

when it's warm -air ingress to inlet manifold - listen for air noise - you will also notice that it will hesitate when you accelerate
also check if servo vacuum is affecting the engine speed - when idling pump brakes if it is this then speed increases

yes but then it will not pass its annual vehicle inspection because you have done unauthorised modifications.

you may have a bad clutch if it is a standard transmission. when a clutch is bad the engine will have more revolutions and the vehicle will move slower. an other thing if not clutch for transmission check fuel filter.
