I have a 2000 GMC sierra 2500 truck. The guy I bought it from had a new transmition put in it. After driving a while I noticed that the tranny wouldn't shift into low gears 1st & 2nd on comand. and when put into low gear it would shift out as if it was in drive. Also, once in drive the tranny wants to get stuck in drive and not shift to over drive. I replaceds the switch on the tranny and installed a new shift cable. the lights on the colum work and the shift linkage is working fine. The truck will still get stuck in drive, and though sometimes it down shifts to a lower gear it will shift out of 1st and 2nd and wont always down shift. Any Sugestions

Service 4 wheel drive message comes on and no lights for 2and 4 wheel drive come on. On my 2004 gmc

Often lights under a dash or indicators just blow out bulbs. If more than one thing isn't lighting and are centralized check fuses to see if its blown. Bulb or fuse. IMHO. MIGHT be a sensor on tranny too. Hope not.

Here's a video with detaile dinstrauctions and other people's fuse questions. New fuses?

I need a utomatic transmition for a 92 gmc sierra but i dont know if i have to use only the same year transmition or i can use another year

Most gmc transmissions were used on several year models. the main thing you want to do is match the tranny to the engine.

Tranny fluid dripping off the drive shaft still!

Hi!!

Check that the transmission is not overfilled, if OK, could be that the seal got damaged (which is very easy to do) when installed or when inserting back the drive shaft. I use the old seal to align the new one, a piece of wood and a rubber hammer to drive it in, always checking that is going straight. Before inserting the drive shaft, clean it good and lubricate w tranny fluid, that reduces the friccion when inserting it back.

Hope this help you fix your leak. click below if helpful. Good luck.

Transmision wont shift out of 2nd gear

Maybe, but won't know till you take it too tranny shop. Even iif it is done a rebuilt is still cheaper than brand new. And, less you drive it now less damage done.

Transmission Identification

If it's a 1500 then yes the 4l60E tranny is for you. If it's a 2500-3500 you'll need a 4l80E. The 80's are only used in trucks with a gvw or 7200 and greater.
