First if you are changing the bulb only and it is a HALOGEN
there is a round acess hole in the inner fender remove it and change the bulb
if you have HID lights or are changing the head light assembly then you have to remove the front bumper facia
hope this helps
hope you have HALOGEN lights
sorry i they did not have that acess till 08 or 09
jack the vehicle up and remove the tire
then remove the inner fender
there are 6-8 philips screws and 6 or so push pins
remove the inner fender then you will see the back of the head light there are 2 caps one is low beam other is high beam
remove the cap then turn the bulb counter clockwise to remove
replace the bulb and reassemble
To further clarify, at least on the 09 Acadia, you will still have to remove the inner fender. However, you only have to remove the front part of the inner fender. Once you have done this, then you can reach the round access cover to change the bulb you are replacing. Grabbing the wiring harness, gently turn the assembly counter clockwise, pull the bulb out of the harness, and replace with H11 bulb (low beam).

Seriously, I am sitting at a GMC dealership right now getting headlight changed. Who designs a car where u have to partially remove the front bumper to change a headlight??? Headlight costs $21, but will end up paying $115 for finished work! So ridiculous!!!
You do not need to remove anything other than 6 screws that hold the inner fender to the front bumper / fender. Turn your wheel to give better access, remove screws, peel the inner fender back to get your hand into the space, and remove / replace the bulb. You will not be able to see what you are doing, so you will be working by feel. I have done this too many times on my 2011 with HID headlights.

You will have to go through your mud guards. Remove your tire, and look inside your wheel well, you will see two part mud guard, front half and back half. Just remove the 7 screws from the front half, 5 on the wheel well itself, and two on the bottom, retaining screw to the bumper, now depending on which side you're looking at anywhere from 5-7 plastic pop-its. Use a flat tip screw driver to loosen the pins up, then remove the pop-it studs. There are two on the bottom front that connect to the vehicle frame. Once this is removed, you can access your headlight assemby to replace both bulbs. Note, you will have to do this to replace your fog light bulb should it go out as well.

access behind from under the hood. Look at the replacement part. Your NOT changing the whole unit. Just the bulb. Quarter turn and it should come out

under the hood there will be a large, plastic weather cover to unscew by hand, remove the 3 pin connecting plug, there will be a spring loaded clip holding in the globe, depress the looped end and divert it over to one side thsi will release the globe, assembly is in reverse, be careful as not to touch the end og the globe, as the oil on your fingers are detremental to its operation. No special tools required to do this. Good luck

under the hood at the back of the head lights you can twist and unplug the bulb or they will do it at the part store for you most the time
