Press the eng button on your on board computer untill the screen displays voltage, it should be reading anwhere from 13.2 to 14.4 depending on what you have on. if not then most likely your alternator is bad.

Check battery voltage with multimeter while running across battery posts. should read 14.0 volts there about. if it reads battery voltage (12.0-12.5), suspect alternator failure. also check accessory belt and idlers, etc.

Hello, I have a 95 aurora and its not a noisy car, but when at an idle it loses oil pressure. I was told i may either have to get an oil pressure sending unit or switch to 10w40 oil? NEED HELP...

I have a 93 Chevy Caviler that does the samething and all it it the gauge on the dash is bad and shows at an idle it has 0 psi but it still runs fine. I have drove this car for 2 years like this and nothing has happen. If your is running fine then your gauge may just be bad.

The car runs but then will stall out. I changed fuel pump like mechanic told me to do. I had battery tested and was told it is good. The on dash message says check charging system...is this the alternator...

I doubt that the alternator is going bad, because when they do, the battery goes flat. More than likely, you have a bad voltage regulator, which starts to fail intermittently, or the cable that plugs into the alternator is loose or has dirty contacts.

Engine Won't Idle

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

95 Aurora, Stalling while driving anyone know why?

i had the same problem with a little more symptoms, that you have reported.
i found that there was a recall on he fuel line. the stainless steal line wares down and begins to leak. This issue affects the oil pressure and causes the car to stall.

Idle control system

A quick trip to the dealer would confirm but it sounds like your I.A.C. (idle air control motor) may be broken. I don't remember it being too expensive when I replaced it on my 95 caddy de ville. Also check out these symptoms-
Is your car idling properly?
Does it get rough under load or other conditions?
Any idle or off idle irregularities at all?
If so these symptoms may be linked to the I.A.C.
