oh and one more thing, fuse for dashlights blow immediately when replaced, thanks!

Every time i replace the fuse it blows immediately and I am replacing it with a 10amp. Could it be a naked wire grounding to something? If so, what is process for tracing? I have haynes manual. Could it be burned out dashlights or dimmer switch? thanks

Seems that the fuse is blown. The fuse box is under the dash on the driver's side outer wall. Check fuses and replace if blown.

If the fuse blows immediately, then there is definitely a short circuiting some where. You will have to check the wiring right from the switch to the bulbs and switch to the battery. It should be mainly switch to the bulbs. And the switch itself. It is a physical check. And when a short is located, then insulate it with an electrical tape. That should sort the problem out.

There is no shrtcut to the physical mmanual inspection of the wires.

What would cause the low beam headlight not to work when all other lights work?

If you have standard halogen bulbs:

  1. Burned out light bulb; or
  2. Fried wires between the dashboard wiring harness and the headlight bulb connectors; or
  3. Fried headlight bulb connectors.
If you have HEI emitters:
  • Failed ballast.

There is a module on the passenger side behind the rear wheel mounted to the body. It goes bad. On the drivers side is where the grounds are located, on or close to the frame. Check these first.

Running light problem on chevy express 3500 box van

Vehicle electric trouble shooting is the worst. Some of the problems you described the bulbs may have multiple filiments with only some burned out. It may sound silly but change the bulbs. Get a couple of new bulbs and try them in the different spots. Time, road vibrations and spring pressure causes the contacts on the bulbs to wear until they get a poor connection then you get a little arcing that build up a residue and a bulb that test good doesn't work.
Your on the right track with the ground wire. Try a test lamp with a good gound connection and test the different sockets, if your test light works but your bulb doesn't you have a ground fault. If neither work check the switch and fuse before you start tracing the wiring. These are just general trouble shooting tips It's very hard to trouble shoot electrical problems sight unseen.

The blinking light is telling you that you have a headlight out, if you look the service light should be coming on when the light stops blinking.
Replace the head light and all should be fine.

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Trouble Symptoms: -When lights are on, brake lights (all three) remain illuminated and only flicker when brake pedal is depressed. Facts: -With lights off, dashboard lights...

sounds like wireing is shorted together. you need to trace down wires and check for bad spots in wireing. also be sure and check plug if you are set up for trailer lights.

I have a 1998 Pontiac Montana and the passenger side turn signals flash too fast, the drivers side flas the proper speed.

Turn the right flashers on with the engine running and in Park, then walk around the vehicle and observe the lights themselves on the passenger side of the vehicle. It's a good bet one of the bulbs is burned out; the faster flashing on your dashboard is meant to be an alert to a burned out bulb. If this does not correct your situation, let me know here and I will help you further.

Fuz box

Your vehicle has 3 fuse panels. Instrument fuse panel is located under the dashboard, left of the steering column. Passenger side fuse panel is located behind passenger side kick panel. Main fuse and relay block is in engine compartment, near battery. There does not appear to be a "reverse light" fuse. Do all you other lights work properly(headlights, brake lights, turn signals, running lights, dashboard lights, etc.)? If so then there is a problem in the reverse light circuit, OR the bulbs are burned out. YES, I have seen both burn out at same time. Hope this helps a little
