I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan with a 4 Cylinder - 2.4 Liter Motor. The check engine light popped up. I ran the codes and code P0304 came back, which is a misfire in Cylinder #4. I since replaced the following: Spark plugs, wires, coil pack, injectectors, fuel rail, I cleaned and wire brushed the EGR and back preasure pipe, Replaced the Throttle position sensor and the map sensor and still nothing. Code and light will stay off for a day or so and return even after being deleted. Anyone have any clue as to what I can do next? Are there anymore electrical parts to look into? Does this mean it is not electrical and that I have a weak cylinder?
Does a weak cylinder mean blown O-Rings or does it mean a blown lower intake gasket?
What else can cause a Misfire Cylinder #4 code besides what I changed?
Im sorry for asking so many questions but I have been trying to solve this code and light for about 6 months and nothing clears it. Although everything I changed may have had nothing to do with the code it did help with the idle and engine vibration.
Right now I start the van and can hear and feel it isnt right, I also feel a mild to ruff idle that shakes the steering wheel at times. I changed out a lot of parts so there cant be much else to do...!?!?!?
Please anyone, with any suggestions, opinions, advice - anything please your input is welcome. I have went to several mechanics and they all say it is a misfire in cylinder 4 and they change the plugs and wires like I did and nothing. Thanks in advance.

Even without specs, you can check the compression and get a diagnostic result. It seems apparent that cyl.s 1 - 3 are running without this problem, so you can compare their compression to that of # 4.
It would be helpful to know what you see on the spark plug insulator. If you are getting appreciable coolant into the cylinder, it will serve to steam clean the insulator.
With all of the replacements you have done, it seems really likely that this is a mechanical issue with that one cylinder.
Well I know that the 2.4 is known for blowing head gaskets and we here at a used car dealer avoid any of the cars with those engines in them.I would run a compresion check on all the cylinders and make sure they all run really close to even across all the cylinders.
No you wouldn't loose performance at first or leak any anti freeze that is visable. It would leak into the oil or leak nothing at all depending where it decided to leak.It would just loose enough compresion to cause a misfire.I still recomend a compresion check. You could also check the underside of the oil fill cap and if there is any sign of milky looking oil you probley have a head gasket leak.
The compresion should be up around 130psi.A bad fuel pump would cause more than just a misfire on cylinder 4 it would cause more of a random misfire and you would have a great lose of power and problems starting. But it's not bad to have a pressure gage to keep an eye on things.

SOURCE: Rough idle p0304 code. Light steady then flashes. many part repla
I also have the same problem with my 2002 caravan 3.3L. Misfire on cylinder #5 (P0305). Replaced ignition plugs & wires, intake manifold gasket, plenum gasket, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned fuel injectors, swapped fuel injector #5 to #1. After all these, I have no more DTC code but the symptom of misfire is still there, the idle is rough and I can feel the misfire even if I step on the gas when in park or neutral. Please let me know what to do next. Thanks!

Thanks. If it was a head gasket Id have a coolant leak or coolant in the exhaust wouldnt I?
I start the van it idles high, puffs out a little white smoke for about 30-45 seconds and then goes to normal transparent exhaust. Exhaust does smell a little burnt but doesnt smell like eggs which would be the cat converter. If I had a blown head gasket it would give major drop in performance right?
great man thanks. I believe it is something like a small leak in the cylinder, I replaced everything I could think of electrical wise. I dont like to use cheap fixes, but they have a k&w Nano Technology head gasket sealer and it seems to have a great review rating. Im going to also go to autozone tomorrow and pick up a Compression gauge tester so that I can test the compression in my cylinders. Any clue what the compression should be at? or should I just check each and see what the ballpark is for all of them?
I dont know if it has anything to do with it but I may pick up a fuel preasure gauge as well, because I heard bad or faulty fuel preasure can cause a misfire as well. I appreciate all the help and anymore suggestions and answers you could give me are and will be greatly appreciated.
