This could be from a number of things. if it ran until you turned it off, chances are it needs a new battery because the alternator would have supplied the voltage while the truck was running, but once you turn it off, there's no juice left in the battery to start it back up again. check the dc voltage on the battery. if it's below 12 after the truck has been off for at least a half hour, replace it. to test the alternator, have the truck running anywhere between 1,000 and 2,000 rpm's and turn on ALL accessories. put the ac on max, turn on the rear defogger if you have it, turn on the radio, (it doesnt have to be turned up all the way) turn on the lights, high beams, and hazards and check the voltage at the battery. you dont want it to be below like 13v dc. also check for any A/C voltage. there should be none. if there's any A/C voltage, or the DC voltage drops below 13V, replace the alternator.
