my friend has a 99 honda passport had same problem have your coil packs tested advance/ auto zone will test free she had one(there are six one on each spark plug) going bad and her problem sounded the same. hope this helps

go to the rockauto.com site and compare part numbers for each year and see if they are the same.

Try a honda dealer as the passport was a re-badged isuzu or a salvage yard. All the isuzu's were clunkers and will wind up there anyway.

Buy the Haynes or Chiltons. Well worth it for the vehicle. Also hondaautomotiveparts(dot)com can get you decent prices on some items. Isuzu Rodeo and Honda Passport are the same car (made by Isuzu). It atleast has a good breakdown of parts with pictures.
