I have a 98 Ford Taurus SE. When I start the car it usually revs up to around 3000 rpms ,then dies back down to the typical 1000 rpms after a few seconds. If I leave it idling for long it stalls out in any gear. Which is not too handy at busy intersections. However if i mantain giving it gas it wont stall out. The service engine soon light has been on for sometime, so i went to autozone and got the codes checked. The O2 sensor and Mass Airflow Sensor codes were both triggered. I have talked to a few people and they all say that it is usually one or the other that needs to be replaced and not both. Is there any other issue it could be in addition to those or which one should i try replacing first, my instinct says the mass airflow sensor but i wanted someone elses opinion before i go buy one.
I would replace the maf sensor first. It is cheaper. It controls the air fuel mixture for your car and sends this signal to your pcm.It is probably not getting enough gas to idol your car.

Sometimes you can take it aprt and clean it with a spray made specifictly for it try it first or change your o2 will affect your idling and hesitation either way you might have to change both if your getting the codes good luck
