Hello, ac freon is 5.00 can, accum run from 20.00 150.00 depends on what veichel it is, ac oil, couple dollars, most of the time ac clutches dont go out that much, usually when the clutches go you get another comp, or rebuild yours, comp, arent that expensive for the 2000 astro, probably couple hundred dollars, with a core charge, sounds pretty high to me depends on where you live too, , different prices,

I need to replace air conditioner compressor w/clutch for my 2006 saturn ion 2 sedan automatic 4 cyl-I've found new ac compressor w/clutch at different auto part shops ranging from $175-$500 and w

is it full of freon? if so it could be that you just need to change the magnetic clutch which is a lot simpler job and cheaper too. get a book first so you have referance pull the belt off pull the nut in the center of the ac compressor make shure that you know what the clearance is betwean the clutch and the compressor it has shims and is imperative that the clearance is right you will need measurment tools feeler gages work best but befor you do any of this you need to make sure there is power and ground going to the two wire conector going to the clutch it wont get power till you turn the ac on or the computer tells it to run for the interior eco system so a magnetic cluch will not turn on if there is no signal resulting in the compressor not terning making the ac not work but its fairly simple to do and 900 is a dicent price at a shop but they would probably charge you for the whole compressor and charging the system and it was only a cluch if there is freon and the compressor isnt siezed and theres signal and ground change the clutch

Problem with heating and air conditioning. The driver's side is blowing hot air and the passenger side is blowing cold air

Air Conditioner blows warm air
  1. Air conditioner system is discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner compressor clutch not engaging. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

The mechanic says i need a new lower intake gasket (at a cost of $1500 CDN) - can i just keep replacing the coolant as needed or is the vehicle (2002 Montana) unsafe to drive? thanks

First off, no you cannot just keep replacing the coolant. If coolant enters the engine lubrication system it will destroy the engine. You must have this repaired. But $1,500 is an outrageous charge for this repair. Find you another honest mechanic to repair this vehicle. This mechanic is ripping you off.

1996 impala ss air conditioner compressor is very noisy

That clutch and coil are serviceable without replacing the compressor but I have had little success with this as usually the clutch gets in that shape subsequently from activity going on inside the compressor which means that clutch is failed generally for a reason.replace the compressor -orfice tube-reciever drier and happy motoring......

A/C compressor clutch

First thing to ask your self is, When you ingauge the clutch does cold air come out the vents? If so Charge is likely sufficent, If air is cool but not cold likely charge is low & is the cause of compresser not kickin on the clutch. place a proper charge in the system but make sure you know how much to add in, what type of refridgerant it takes ( 134-a ), (R-12). Besure that you use no sealers & that no sealers or Propane was used potentel system damage & injury or Death could result as improper proceeding at this point.
If you do have cold air check the lowside pressure switch function. You do this by first locating the switch disconecting the pigtail & useing a proper jumper wire across the 2 pigtail (female) ends of the harness connector not the switch its self.
If compresser clutch ingauges & Cold air blows from the vents replace low side pressure switch if this does not work grab your wallet, the yellow pages & the phone. I strongly recommend takeing your vehical to a qualified repair facility or Tech.
I Truely hope that I have helped your problem & Knowlege I have given you was useful!
