Any parts place should have it do you have autozone,pepboys,napa,advance auto just to name a few should have ur parts or they will tell you where to get them

you don't change the piston to valve clearance
the valve timing does that as it opens and closes the valves so that the piston doesn't hit it
all the details for timing the valves are in the workshop manual as you have not bothered to include the make, model ,year and engine type in your post
check the firing order of the spark plugs and make sure the number 1 piston is on top dead center and start from that check the marks on the crank shaft pulley if donot match your timing belt(or chain) position is no good and double check all pushing rods.
By your description it seems as though everything may be related. the screeching is likely oil on the drive belt and the engine light may be because the belt is slipping. The oil deposits more than likely will be related to the gaskets....if it were failed piston rings you would see blue smoke out of the exhaust at the very least, so don't worry too much there
If your timing belt breaks some of the valves will stay open and the pistons will come up and either break the valve or could put a hole in a piston. This is very costly. The rattle could be the belt tensioner
Always turn an engine over by hand first man.turn it 2 revolutions of the crank and see if it turns freely.If tour starter will not turn the engine then tou may not have got your valve timing right and have valve to piston contact[not good] Check your valve timing again [with the plugs out turn over your engine by hand.

Good news is - I don't think you need a new engine.
As there are many moving parts that could create a knocking sound, it usually needs careful inspection to identify where it is from.
I will give a list of some of the causes and remedies. Yours will probably be one of them, but unless I was there - it could be any.
Loose exhaust component (causes rattles and thumps) - replace parts or joints.
Loose Engine mounts - Engine will move about a lot more than normal - Replacement of mounts.
Fraying Belts - causes continual ticking or slapping - Replace belts and check tension.
Timing is off - bad running, lack of power, pre ignition or knocking at low revs. Check timing belt - Replace, Tune engine.
Cracked valve - slight misfire worse at low revs - Replacement valves.
Clutch Problems - Broken spring or loose bolt - Check clutch plate - replace clutch plates.
Older engines - often accompanying smoke -
Broken Piston ring - continual ticking or occasional misfire - Replace Piston rings
Worn Piston bearings - Piston Slap - Replacement of all piston bearings.
Transmission Problems (only heard when in gear or with clutch out) - Broken gear teeth or worn bearings - Replacement of Transmission or rebuild.
Some of these remedies require engine removal and strip down, others are a simpler fix.
Go to your local NAPA, Carquest, Advance Auto Parts, O'Reilly's, Checkers, AutoZone, or whoever you deal with, and they can provide you with a timing mark index for your application. If they tell you they can't, it's because they don't want to. You may also find that this is an interference engine, and that a valve job may be in order. The piston and the valves occupy the same space, but at different times. When a timing belt breaks on an interference engine, the piston and the valves may then try to occupy the same space at the same time. Piston wins, valves lose. In most cases anyway.
You're going to need gaskets for sure, but you're going to be better off spending a lot more on parts as well. To access the oil pump, you have to disassemble a LOT of the engine, as it's driven off the crankshaft and is behind the timing belt sprocket on the crank, which is behind your main belt pulley at the bottom center of the engine. All of that (including the timing belt) must be removed to change the oil pump. You are better off buying the timing belt service components (timing belt, accessory belt(s), timing tensioner, water pump, thermostat) and installing them at the same time to save yourself from paying the labor to duplicate the effort later on - it's all coming apart anyway, so you may as well install new gear now and not have to worry about it in the future.
Hi. Since you took the chance of opening the engine to replace the timing belt, you might replace the seals and gaskets for the head, cover, and crankcase, including the valve seals. in this way you will add brand new seals, minimizing or eliminating any leak problems. Also, try to use shur-tak spray. This one hold the gaskets in place while putting the engine back together and adds a protective layer to them as well. Ask for it at any parts store.
