1990 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup. Windshield wipers will not turn off, windshield washer won't work, cruise control stopped working. Checked fuses, appear to be okay. Tried replacing switch, did not solve problem. Any ideas?
May want to look at replacing the wiper circuit board. It is located on the firewall adjacent to the wiper motor and has a some what square black cover with 3 torx screws and wireing harness pluged into the side.We had a truck that every time you washed it the wipers would stay on until it dryed out.You can try removing it and spaying it down with contact cleaner just watch the brease on the two contact tips.Well hope this helps.
I had the same problem. Not all 1990 had the circuit board as mentioned, mine had a mechanical switching system. You can get a new/rebuilt wiper motor with the circuit board that will replace the existing motor and solve your problems, did for me!
mine is a 2002 GMC Savanna. i changed the motor and it worked for 3 days and then started blowing the fuse. now it just doesnt work
Best guess would be to check for any pinched wires or any that have rubbed thru the insulation, If you find and Liquid electrical tape is the best fix for those hard to reach places.

The fact of your cruise control 'wont work with the wipers' is a deliberate safety feature. Many vehicles (especially Japanese Hi End cars) wont allow a driver to use CC in the rain.
