Muffler continues to blow a hole in it making my jeep become really loud this is the third muffler

normal mufflers have a weep hole but if the muffler is rusted or loud replace

backfire under load blew your tailpipe/catalytic converter or muffler open...find hole and assess... replacement or repair

all mufflers have a hole for moisture to drain out so they don't rot out as fast

It could be a small hole or the baffles are loose in the muffler itself.You can either check this out yourself by jacking the vehicle up and starting it and see where the noise is coming from or have it looked at at a repair shop.Make sure they show you the problem if they find one.Don`t just take they`er word.Hope this helps.Good luck.

What a funny set of events.Of course the tail pipe is clear(you would have checked that)The only other thing it might be is the cat/converter is blocked.New muffler is allowing a heap of air through and it suddenly clears and the bang.They do block up so it may be worth getting it checked.Hope this helps

if to much gas gets through then the EGR and Cat. Converter are not doing there job

Seems to me that you may have a bad muffler, a hole has manifested where rust may have collected over the years, or a broken flange.
Either way, your local muffler shop (Midas, Etc) should be able to remedy the situation quite easily.

Sounds like you have a ignition timing issue or it is possible your engine is running extremely rich and a partially plugged muffler and after the fuel vapors accumulate in the exhaust system then you get an explosion causing your muffler to expand. However I would first look at ignition timing and if that checks out move on to exhaust system or emissions systems.

If the noise sounds like your muffler, but isn't coming from the area of your muffler, then you have an exhaust leak upstream from the muffler.

From the front of your muffler, follow the tubing forward to the catalytic converter, then forward to the engine exhaust manifold.

If you start with the car sitting for a few hours to make sure it's cold, you can use your hand to feel for blowing leaks while the engine is running, but chances are you'll be able to hear it. be careful of the catalytic converter itself, as it heats up fast, so check that first.

Once you've found the leak, the fix depends on the emissions laws in your state. If you have none, and the leak is in the middle of the pipe, you can buy pipe patchers (metal preferred) through auto parts stores or catalogs/websites. If you have strict emissions laws, or the leak is at the junction of the catalytic converter and pipe, you'll need to replace the failing part.

either live with it or get out a saw and cut it out and weld in a new exhaust muffler. or you might get the measurements and get one to fit where you cut out the old one from your parts store.. make sure you measure your pipe and get a muffler that will fit over the pipe ..
