2000 beetle wont shift up gears.....

I have a 2000 bug with just the 2.0 automatic engine in it and it only has 84k miles on it...I have had no problems at all with it, sometimes it would **** a lil when it would switch gears and now it wont shift up gears at all. For some reason its not catching or noticing that it needs to go into a higher gear so i have to drive around going no faster then 40. It runs great, goes in reverse, stops and starts just fine, it will switch into 3rd and 1st but just wont gear up...does anyone have any advice on what it could be?

Hi
Firstly check the gearbox oil, secondly check the slave cylinder ensure there is no leaks etc, sometimes the leak will only dampen the area you may not see pools of fluid on the floor.

It could have air in the system and just need bleeding through, ifits not this then it could be the torque converter on the gearbox.

Check the cheapest parts first, most likely it will be the slave cylibder.

Hope this helps
Regards
Dan

My 2001 GMC Jimmy 4x4 Automatic with 84K miles. It winds when I put it in reverse and I think I only have 1st and 2nd gear. Additionally it revs high, like over 3000 rpm, delays and then eventually...

It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.

Vw automatic trans won't shift

The 01M and 09A automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick and procedure requires measuring and maintaining a specified ATF temperature (which is neither cold or hot, but in between) during the ATF level checking. Special Volkswagen tools are required for this operation and it is therefore recommended that ATF level checking on 01M/09A transmissions be left to an authorized VW dealer.

2000 Nissan Maxima sounds like its not shifting into 3rd gear

What do you mean by loud... Loud where??? If noise is from engine, make sure that the mechanical fan clutch is not "locked" (it's supposed to freewheel when cold... if it does not, it will "roar" when driving.

My bug wont start

Depends on if the vehicle is a automatic transmission or a Stick shift. If it is an automatic could be the neutral safety switch, if it is a stick shift could be the safety switch at the clutch pedal. Hope this helps.

I found the same problem with mine after taking it to the dealer ship for a factory recall. It was shifting good but when they finish the recalls it won't shift at all. After auguring with them they finally put the code reader on it and found they lost the values of the transmission to shift. The machanic reset it and it's now back to normal.
