My truck has been sitting out all winter. 3 weeks ago i went out to start it and there was a clicking noise when i turned the key. about 3 days ago i went out to jump it and that didn't work now today i went out to try and when i turned the key key no noise at all whats wrong?

On a car that old, I would suspect a corroded fusible link, in the wiring harness
I don't have have referrence material to help you locate those items.
You still have to start buy checking the battery & it's cables No power to anything at all,your working your way from the battery to fusible links & on to fuses,to see what you do have

I would love to answer this question but I am having the same issue. I have a 2000 LS with the V8..replaced the battery about 2 weeks ago and last night I went to go home and it won't start. All the bells ring when I turn the key but when I turn to the right to "start" position, nothing. No clicking, no noise at all. I called the Lincoln dealership and we went over the alarm light "not flashing" and shifter position. They have no advice other than "tow it in".
The vehicle had been running fine.
I understand how you feel about underhood tasks. The termnial connections were the easiest for me to start with. I suggest you have a tech check thie wiring on this vehicle. You obviously have a bad ground wire that will need to be traced to find a solution.
There is a cable from the battey to the fuse box we had to replace that caused the radio to go off, then the speedometer and then no power from battery.
check wiring and connectors at battery and fuses look at starter and see and feel if its loose or not sitting right if it is notify shop dealership where work was done possible did not install starter correctly when work on transmission was done grinding, starter not meshing correctly with fly wheel
