Engine would attempt to start but 15secs later it goes off and a warning light comes up, a triangle with exclamation mark inside. i have scan it and it says 'engine would not start', do you think the ICE ECU has a problem?

I would check all the earth wires to and from the battery, the heat may have melted some hence running for a short time, the thinner wires are the ones to check as they cannot take 100amps and often melt or stick together.

It's worth a look before you buy any more parts.

Hi I have Toyota Prius alpha hybrid 2014 my Auxiliary battery dead some time live but on battery say no add water but there is no water inside battery normally all battery are with water please help me...

The main hybrid battery used in the Toyota Prius hybrid, including the Prius Alpha, is a high-voltage nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack. Unlike regular maintenance that involves adding water, this battery pack does not require such maintenance. However, there is a smaller 12-volt auxiliary battery that is responsible for powering the accessories and starting the car, which may require maintenance.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and address the issue:
  • Check the Auxiliary Battery Health:
  • Start by having the 12-volt auxiliary battery tested to ensure it's holding a charge and functioning properly. If the auxiliary battery is old or not holding a charge, it may need to be replaced.
  • Inspect Battery Terminals:
  • Ensure the battery terminals are clean and securely connected. Dirty or corroded terminals can prevent the battery from charging and delivering power.
  • Charge the Auxiliary Battery:
  • If the battery is low on charge, you can charge it using an appropriate battery charger. Make sure to follow the charger's instructions and safety precautions.
  • Check Charging System:
  • Ensure that the vehicle's charging system (alternator) is functioning correctly. If the alternator is not charging the auxiliary battery properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Consult a Professional:
  • If the issue persists or if you're unsure about handling electrical components, it's best to consult a professional mechanic or a Toyota service center. They can diagnose the issue accurately and provide appropriate solutions.
Remember, the main hybrid battery (the one that powers the electric drive) in a Toyota Prius is sealed and does not require adding water. It's the 12-volt auxiliary battery that might need maintenance or replacement.

I have 2002 toyota prius that is totally dead- battery is charged

Hello,
In the fuse box under the hood near the headlight open the cover, open the red cover with the plus sign on it, it should be 12 volts or so there, if not then either the battery in the trunk is dead or the fuse on the positive terminal is blown. If there is voltage at that point there is another fuse or two blown in the fuse box, check the higher amp fuses, the 120A main fuse, the DC fuse, use a voltmeter or test light to check.

Low power on toyota 2007 camry. Do I need to reset by reinstalling the new battery?

The fuse and relay box is located in the engine bay area. Please lift up the cover by pressing front and rear locks, and find the ECTS fuse (10 Amp). Location and diagram of the fuse is printed underside the cover. Remove the fuse, check the fusible link. Replace it with the same rating, if it is blown.
After replacing the fuse, remove the EFI fuse in the same relay box or remove the battery terminal for 10 Sec.
Fix the fuse back to its place or reconnect the battery terminal.
Start the car. It should now perform well.
If the problem persists, retrieve the error code and put it here.
Hope that works.

I have been away and left my 2008 Prius in the garage. Upon returning 3 weeks later, the battery is dead. Is it able to be jump started?

Yes. See your owners manual but the terminal for jumping it is in the fuse box under the hood on your right as you are facing the engine.

I replace the battery in our 2003 Element and put the wrong cables on the terminals. The battery fuse blew. I corrected my mistake. I replace the 100 amp fuse with an 80 amp fuse. I could not find a 100...

There could be a lot of severe damage to the electrical system including blown computer modules. I would refer the problem to a professional shop in your area.

I disconnected the battery to clean the terminals and it will not start

does it make any noise, click or engine turn over?
if you do not have any of that then re-check the cable and battery terminals.
if engine turn over but not runs then you may have a blown fuse

Toyota Prius starting problem

There's a known problem with the early Toyota Prius (2001 - 2003), when running the engine for a long period of time without moving or when the car is driven only for short trips (short city driving), the Prius might not start.

You have to change the original battery with a 356 CCA which is bigger because the battery is bigger you also have to change what is holding it into place.
