double posted same car same problem but this time a new Key clue.
what do you mean out of 4th gear.
learn the tell a drivers evidence hear,
PRNDL123,can';t move the LEVER here
or the auto trans (none told or engine or country told)
the A/t fails to up shift 3 to 4, in Drive,?
or trans is stuck in 4th drive. no matter what I do, even in Reverse I get 4th gear forward?
1: check all fuses first./
2: scan the PCM and report all DTC errors and skip none set.
shifting out of 4th gear
what does that mean, I am clueless. 4>3 down shifts fail?
From what you are describing, it is possible either the 3-4 actuator is no longer playing with the 3rd & 4th clutch packs, only way to know for certain is to hook up the good ol' pressure gauge to trans. system, yeah, you think the Chevrolet dealer should know this right?
neither
the torque converter clutch solenoid / servo will not give any drive action if faulty
the transmission if operating fine in all gears with no noises will not need replacing
save money by going to an accredited transmission specialist shop and have the fault codes read first then replace the problem sensor , servo or solenoid
Go to You Tube Video & once there, put in your question Then go to Google & put in ford transmissions Pick your vehicle, look up the trans model & go back to You Tube Video & watch the trans being repaired
Forget the bands, you adjust them and forget them. Now whether they apply is another story.
You got either no 4th gear apply or converter lock-up,or both ,missing.
Go with the solenoid theory first.
I wouldn't drive it that way.
Have a dealer or a good private trans shop check it out.
Don't let them pull it and rebuld it.
i agree that it could be the trans. when operating the vehicle, instead of putting it in drive, put it in 3rd. accelerate to 40-50. the vibration might be the result of the trans not being able to shift properly into overdrive (4th). if the vibration goes away, then suspect the trans, since the trans will no longer be able to shift into 4th. if the vibration is still there, suspect an axle out of balance since the speed of the axle will remain the same.
check or replace your thottle position sensor tps that trans needs to know where the throttle is to shift if it is bad it will do as you say wont shift to third
another telltale is it will act like it goes into lockup when shifting into reverse and stall the engine
