Also my gas guage is stuck on full. it goes to empty when I turn ignition swith to off.do I need a new guage ?

It could be the gauge or the sender, in the fuel tank, or the fuse to the sender. On some Hondas there's a voltage regulator, in the gauge assembly, holding fuel gauge and some others to 8V.

My 1998 bonneville fuel guage is stuck on full. What should I do?

there is a plunger in the fuel tank that controls the gauge, have a mechanic check that, and worst case have a new gauge installed. and if you dont want to do any of those. just keep an eye on the amount of mileage driven and refuel as necessary.

1997 chevrolet truck-fuel gauge went past full wont move.

Most likely the fuel level sending unit is defective. I have also seen a faulty voltage regulator cause a fuel guage to peg out. (Go past full and not move). I don't know if it is the problem in this case, but it is something to consider. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Fuel guage stays on full

You've got to check the( Fuel-gauge) sender unit which is inside the tank,
it could be faulty or stuck at 'full' position.
Its mostly fitted on top of the fuel tank could be easily accessable form the inside or you may have to drop the tank.

95 jeep yj wont start

have you checked the fuel pump ? the fuel pump is in the fuel tank and it may be that the fuel guage inside the tank is broken and or not attached to the pump. This is a big job but with a little help from buddys and a bit patients it can be repaired.

Fuel gauge stuck on half full

I can tell you almost for certain your fuel level sending unit is bad, I have been able to fix them though. It requires removing the gas tank and then the fuel pump. You can if your inclined, bend the brushes on the small circuit board over more so they will make better contact on to it. Other wise its a new fuel pump assembly, check all plugs and wiring by unpluging and repluging them to insure no bad connect. It is possible it could be the guage itself, but in thirty years of fixing cars never had a bad guage

Fuel guage reads 1/4 at all times even when full. How do I repair

1.If the needle on the guage is stuck. you can try tapping the guage to see if the needle moves or turn the ignition on and off a few times to see if you can get it to move. If the guage drops to empty when you turn off the ignition you know that its not the guage. (note that the guage does not drop to zero when ignition is off with all cars of this age).

2. The problem could be with the sensor in the fuel tank itself. Rocking the vehicle up and down from the rear (you will need help doing this) may free the sensor level indicator ball in the tank.
