I have a 94 jeep grand cherokee lardeo and the transmission came out but I have a 96 tranny they both are from the 5.2L V8. Would they be interchangeable?

first identify them.96 from out of what.
both a re ZJ jeeps, GC.?
the 94 has 46RH box. that engine.
the 96 has and electronic shifted box. (apples and oranges diffr)
the 96 box is a 44RE, (note the E there)
the E box needs TCM brain (part of PCM actual) to shift it.
you dont have PCM in your car that can do that.

call jeep and ask them.?
bingo.
there is more to na A/T then length and bell sizes, far more.

below is the PCM and 44re box. shift solenoids.

How to fix a cluct fork in a 96 ford mustang

Did you check your fluid level? If this is on a Borg Warner World Class T5 transmission the check/fill hole will be on the passenger side of the transmission. Unscrew the bolt and check. Fluid should be even with bolt hole. If not fill it with ATF. Yes they use ATF. Fill it up to bolt hole(fill it til you spill it) and replace bolt.

Transmission interchange

It should not make a difference so long as the bolts align correctly to secure transmission down. As long as the bolt holes you will be using will align, and the gears are good, you should be good to go.

My 96 chevy pickup with auto 4 wheel drive wont go in to 4 wheel drive and the indcator lights just flash in 4 low. when i turn the key off the transfer case keeps shifting in and out of gear. i know its...

Thee is a mechanical tightening mechanism that goes over the rod that connects your shift lever to the PTO lever. It is secured with a bolt. If this bolt has come loose, the mechanism may have moved (slipped on the shaft) and the shift lever will not be synchronized with the PTO lever. There may be evidence this slippage on the rod. If so move it back to its original position and tighten. If not adjust in the direction you suspect it moved from in small increments until it works again. May need to reverse direction, of course, if it gets worse. Let me know if this helps. Thanks.

Gearshift selector problem

The gear selector switch is either out of adjustment or it is bad. Loosen the two bolts holding the gear selector in place and turn it slightly to see if the display stops flashing. You will have to manually shift the transmission lever at the switch into neutral, and then turn the switch until the display says neutral. Tighten the bolts and then check all gears. It's also possible the shift cable could also be out of adjustment. Does the display change if you simply wiggle the gear selector lever?

Put it in drive and stays in high gear wont shift

Bad connection where the wires from the tranny plug up or you have a bad transmission control module, located I think underneath the dash next to the ECU module, looks like it except smaller.

1995 crown vic gear problems/gear shift wont lock

if the shifter is loose and sloppy feeling then the shift cable bracket has come loose under the dash at the steering wheel. remove the lower panel under the steering wheel so you can see under the dash then get flash light and look while jiggling the shifter. you should be able to see the cable and bracket. if the bracket is loose then tighten the bolts. note this bracket is at the steering colum.
