2001 town & country takes off good but after a minute it slows down. You have to restart to move again. Will not move in reverse. Is th e transmission bad or has a censor gone bad or what. Thank you.
It has gone into limp home mode. Do you have the check engine light on if so get the codes read it may give you an idea what is going on with the ******. Might not be a bad ****** but maybe a speed sensor or more likely shift control solenoid module. It has gone into limp home mode. Disconnect the battery for @20 minutes. Then try again. Sounds like the anti theft is shutting the car down. You can also try locking and unlocking the car with the key fob 5 times ending with the vehicle unlocked. Try starting it again. If that does not fix it the chassis module is faulty or there is a short in the connector to it.
yes you need a new thermostat or there is low coolant. this will affect the mpg because your overheating and thats why its stalling. dont drive until you fix or you will blow your head gasket if it isnt blown already. change thermostate and check coolant.
Replace the latch mechanism. There is a short in the latch. It happened on both of my vans. The latch costs about 90-100 dollars, if memory serves... 3 bolts, a wire connection, and the manual latch bar. Very easy, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to switch out.
try unhooking the battery for 3 minutes then reconnect, locks should start working, theres a problem with the computer programing with the locks, the dealers have to reprogram your computer so it doesnt happen again, thats a well kown problem, ive done many on caravans and town & countries, good luck.
a scanner that gets into the instrument cluster computer can reset the needles. or take the dash apart and manually turn dash cluster upsidedown, then the needles will move so rotate untill the needles are reset.
