You Mazda does not have an inertia switch like the fords do. The only things that control the fuel pump are the pcm, fuel pump relay, and the fuel pump fuse.
check the fuel pump fuse , if so equipped, if not ,, your going to have to remove the pump to check it,, also, make sure the filter isn't clogged , if you have your manual, check for the location of the fuel pump reset , I believe that Mazda had them in 99
On Many cars, there is an emergency fuel pump disconnect. It is usually located near the front passenger seat, between the seat & door jam. Make sure that it did not get turned off accidentally. Check your owners manual for the exact location of this cutoff switch. There is a 99% chance that this is your problem.
The fuel pump relay should be the green relay in the under-hood fuse block. Sorry about the size of the diagram below...too tired to shrink it, just scroll down and to the right.
Answer to question Where is the Fuel Pump relay on a 1999 Mazda 626.
The relay in in the cover box that contain a variety of fuses just behind the batterty on the driver side of the car. One has to press the tab and remove the cover to see the relay. The cover give a brief description of the fuse and relay locations, but does not call it fule pump relay. The blue arrow point to the fuel pump relay
