1993 Grand Cherokee died, won't start. Crankshaft sensor replaced

My 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee was losing power and acting like it was going to die and then would regain power. It was also difficult to start or would not start after driving for 30-45 minutes, then would start after an hour or by the next day. The repair shop found no fault but recommended replacement of the crankshaft sensor, so I had it replaced. Two days later, while driving, it died and will not start. I don't seem to be getting a spark to the coil. Before replacing the crankshaft sensor I had replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, rotor and cap. I am getting fuel to the engine. What could the problem be that it won't start? Why no spark to the coil now?

Thank you! I will try your suggestion and will post an update as to the outcome.

I replaced the ignition coil so I'm now getting spark to the coil. Jeep still wouldn't start and I noticed the internal lights dimmed when I turned the key to start it up so, I had the battery tested. They said it was bad (only 1 1/2 yrs old and still under warranty). Replaced the battery. Now, I'm not getting fuel to the injectors. If I pour in a little fuel, the jeep starts right up and then dies when the fuel is burned.

Does this still seem to be the brain of the jeep or is it a bad fuel pump, ASD relay or the PCM? Any assistance is appreciated. Seems odd that the Crankshaft sensor, ignition coil, battery and fuel pump would all go bad at once. Not showing any Diag Trouble Codes except #12, battery has been disconnected. Thank you.

It may be the brain of the jeep. if they get condensation in them from the rain , they can act as you described. It is only about a $30 part @ Pep Boys. It looks like a box with 2 or sometimes 3 plugs coming off of it and it plugs up to the wiring harness, and it mounts on the firewall or the inside fender-wall of your jeeps engine compartment.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado wont start. Cranks, but injectors do not pulse( fuel rail has pressure.)

If computer sees no crank sensor signal it shuts down pulses to the injectors. But, you bring something new into the mix. Make sure fender grounding is good so the relay can operate properly and make sure power going to it is not restricted by a loose or dirty contact on the power side.

Engine dies numerous times a day.

Have you thought about it possibly being the engine that has something wrong with it? Have you checked the cylinders?

98' Jeep Grand Cherokee V8

sounds like a bad pump, filter or both. Do some testing before replacing though, a bad crankshaft sensor can do pretty much the same thing! Parts are not cheap...testing is very important!!!

Jeep not starting

You should check the carburator or the fuel intake to see if its cloged and if it has a fuel line filter check it to also see if its cloged. Also check the battery for any corrosion on the terminals that could reduce current to the starter.

Hope this info helps to anyone who reads it.
