The climate control blower of my 1999 F150 will turn on when the ign switch is off and keys removed. No relay is involved , I removed them one at a time, blower stayed on.

This system does NOT use a blower motor relay. Power flows from the IGN switch to the fan speed switch. Then from the switch to the resistor. Then to the blower motor and to ground #G206.
With the key in RUN, disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor. Use your volt meter to check for voltage on the purple wire. If you're not getting power and the blower motor fuse is good, then you've got a wiring issue between the motor and the IGN switch. Check for power on the orange wire at the fan speed switch. That power is coming from the IGN switch. If not power, check for power right at the IGN switch on the orange wire. If no power there, you've got a bad IGN switch. If you're getting power, check for good ground on the grey wire. If not ground, clean the ground connection.
Just changed mine for the same problem!!! replaced starter, problem solved! Unusual design by american standard, for the main motor to continue to drive, !?
Hello! it's my job to make things as easy for the customer as possible...Therefore I must ask why you want to replace the heater switch? Is it because you have lost one or two of the switch speeds? Your vehicle is noted for loss of the Blower Motor Resistor... Changing the Heater switch means removal of the Climate Control Assembly which is not the easiest of jobs...I've included the process...But are you sure the blower resistor is OK? If you have lost 1,2, or all blower motor speeds it's more than likely the Resistor pack. And a lot easier to change... Guru...saailer
Remove climate control:
Remove the instrument cluster finish panel...
Remove the 3 climate control assembly screws...
Disconnect the climate control assembly vacuum connector...
Disconnect the 5 climate control assembly electrical connectors...
REMOVE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR HOT WIRE BLOWER MOTOR IT.IF IT WORKS.YOUR AC AND HEATER CONTROL SWITCH IS FAULTY.CHECK HVAC FUSES AND CHECK BLOWER MOTOR RELAY.IF BLOWER MOTOR DONT WORK WHEN HOT WIRE REPLACE IT.IF ALL CHECK OUT GOOD.HAVE DEALERSHIP DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON YOUR CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM.
It is located in the blower/flasher relay block mounted behind the center of the dashboard above the transmission hump behind the radio/climate control area.
are you talking about the fan blower inside the car or the fans under the bonnet..?
the fans under the bonnet may stay on for a while after the engine is switched off to prevent heatsoak. This is when the engine actually heats up more after switch off due to latent heat within the engine. The fans will remain on until the coolant temperature has fallen and stabilised, then the fans will stop. If the blower fan inside the car keeps running, this may be a feature on the car to assist with heat soak but I would think this is more like a faulty power relay or fan controller if the car has climate control..In this case, my advice would be to consult a qualified autoelectrician.
Do further tests at the relay to ascertain whether the fault lies before or after the relay.
Check power availability at the supply side of the relay contacts - should have 12v from a supply fuse on one side of the normally open contact (note -this supply may only be available when Ign or Acc sw is on).
If power supply is ok at the relay contact, check control input to relay operate coil.
If a ground (or 12v) operates the relay, operate the relay with a local ground (or 12v) and check blower motor runs.
If all above OK, check control signal from fan switch is arriving at the relay control coil.- if not trace wiring back to the switch.
The blower motor control module is under the dash on the inside of the passenger side. I'm not sure what you mean by the AC Blower.... the blower contols levels and on and off. The air won't work at all if this goes.. I had it replaced on mine and had an on/off switch put in while the part came in and it cost me 217 bucks. Hope this helps.
Per your description, I believe you may have a blower fan relay that is stuck closed. Remove the relay from the under-hood fuse center and see if the fan stops. If it does stop, put the relay in slowly and see if you here the relay "click" and the fan come back on. Let me know. Regards,
