Abby,
Where you located? How many miles? If you have high humidity or generally wet weather, make sure the plug wires are seperated they could be cross arcing. Same with the distributor cap, it can develope arc trails inside, rotor to, even the plug wire ends. You could pull plug wires one at a time to see if the symptoms change. Delaying the distributor slightly could help. Make sure you mark it if you do not have a timing light. I would go counter clock wise no more than a quarter of an inch. Finially, suspect fuel pressure of being to low. Low pressure will lean out the engine as the engine consumes more fuel at higher RPMs.

91 camaro 305 tpi runs rough at idle sometimes stalls and has power loss

tune up-read your plugs and then check your timing. use timing light and double check with scan tool-most 91 305's were high outputs which
requires higher octane than regular (fuel grade revelatnt to compression ratio and altitude) you may want to check fuel pressure could be a clogged filter or bad pump.

1985 iroc tpi 305 can the fuel pressure be adjusted! i bought it used and it runs good but backfires and the exaust smells badly of gas has a new o2 and map sensor on it.

If it is fuel injected, the fuel pressure regulator is most likely the problem,if it is carbureted the mc solenoid could be the problem,or carburetor needs rebuilding.

1989 pontiac firebird 305 v8 starts and idles

Your idle air control valve may be dirty or the wire harness may be damaged. First try cleaning the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and make sure you use all the can up and try to get the idle air control valve cleaned. A faulty or dirty idle air control valve will cause engine to stall when put in to gear from idle. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help you get your car running 100% soon.

What engine of other cars could fit in Chevy caprice 82-85,

almost every rear drive drive full size used the 305 V8, so u can get an engine from a Buick La sabre, Pontiac bonneville and firebird, also Oldsmobile 88, and don't forget Camaro. any 305 chevy V8 will bolt in, also the 350 V8 will bolt in, this is a much better choice..

What is the timing set at for my 1991 Camaro V8 305 ? Will someone answer me please ?

A 10 deg BTDC is the initial set and a 0 deg is ECM controlled timing at idle.
I assume you know how to prepare distributor for initial set.
Regards.

What is the timing set at for a 1991 Camero 305 V8 ?

Try 0 degrees. It should state it on the radiator cover, but mine didn't. I tried 10 advance and it started real hard. I think you need to disconnect the single wire terminal near the distributor/coil that sticks out of your harness wrap before you set timing and reconnect it afterwards. That's what I recall from my TPI car and this TBI car seems to have the same electronics. Good luck.

Sometimes cant idle

i will recomend you to clean the carburetor with carburetor cleaner, just buy some at auto parts remove the hose on top on carburetor and keep the rpm arrownd 2500 and keep ading the cleaner to the inside of carburetor, if you add too much it might backfire just keep you face away from the carburetor good luck and let me know
