2007 Honda CR-V Logo

A few days ago i posted about some delay shifting and harsher shifting in my Honda crv. Most who replied suggested low Tranny fluid, and it appears they may have been right. I checked the tranny fluid, and it is a little bit below the low dot. In the owners manuel it said it should be between the low dot and the high dot. Would it being a little low like that cause all these shifting problems? Also how much tranny fluid should I add on a 2009 CRV to get it up to par? Is it normal for a car with only 7,000 miles to be low on tranny fluid?

You most likely have a small leak, but be sure to check it in park, when engine is warm.It will not be correct,if it is not checked like this,a little low on transmission fluid is most likely not the problem.I would have the car checked for a bad vacuum in the engine compartment. Also, have the timing checked, these will have a big effect on the transmission to shift, and smooth.

Just add a little at a time till its at the full mark - the dipstick is not exactly a precise instrument -
If theres no fluid stains where you park the car then it probably isnt leaking - its 3 years old - the fluid MUST be changed usually every 24 months - it soaks up water vapor from the air which lowers the boiling point, when you drive the car the transmission gets HOT and the water and some fluid is lost through the transmissions breather pipe hence the low level after 3 years...

I have a Honda crv 2000 it starts gears shift but won't move

If an automatic, check your fluid level. Then check the lower gear selector solenoid pair, It is easy to remove and clean. Front right passengers side of automatic tranny, 96 to 2002 Civics and Accords and CRV. Whack it on its face a few times and blow it out with a compressor. Use a pencil and a rag to keep from losing all your fluid when you take it off. Check the sound of the click with a 12 volt battery. Sometimes the solenoids get stuck if the fluid gets varnished or if it sits too long. The upper solenoid pair is not so touchy. Bottom solenoid will sometimes prevent starting out in first and will go straight to 2nd or 3rd from start. Also some creep in neutral.

Well the simple answer is no, your not hurting it. I would however be doing a tranny service every 6 months or so, to make sure the fluid is always fresh... The tranny will settle in and will take its time sometimes, but as long as it isnt slipping its all fine... If a shiftkit is available for your tranny it might be a thought... Just keep the fluid level always topped up and so your services about twice as often as needed...

Hi everyone! Transmission question. I have a

A 2009 Honda CRV should not show any tranny ware after only one year!!! And it should still be under manufacture warrenty Take it back to the dealer and have them check it out, let then put it on paper with thier invoice, if it still is not fixed after a few times use the lemon law in California.

I would suggest taking your time between reveres and drive, pausing in neutral for a sec. you may also wont to have your transmission filter and fluid changed sooner then called for ,as preventive maintenance hope this answers your question if not please let us know Thank you.

IT IS NOT GOING INTO NEUTRAL. IT HAS LOST THE DIRECT DRIVE CLUTCH PACK INTERNALLY. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS HIGH MILEAGE. IF SO AND YOU CHANGE THE FLUID IT CLEANS UP ALL THE VARNISH IN THE TRANNY AND THE END RESULT IS TRANNY MALFUNCTIONS DEPENDING ON WHAT KIND OF CARE IT HAS HAD IN THE PAST.
