Under the cowl in front of the lower front windshield where the wipers are, there are 2 drain holes for water that follows the inside of the fenders. If these holes become plugged with leaves, pine needles or anything else, the water will find a way into the car somewhere else in the firewall.

SOURCE: Wet passenger side floorboards - not rain related,
a/c drain stopped up. I dont know if you get to it. its a little rubber line under the car, approx where the passengers feet will be. sometimes you can get a piece of wire to unclog it, or if you have access to a air comressor, blow some air up into the hose. You will know when you unclog it, a big rush af water will come out.

It it happens when it is raining. This seems to be a common problem with Vehicles.
There is
a seal on the passenger side Hood Hinge area. If this seal is cracked
or broken or missing you will get water in the car every time it rains.
The water runs down the windshield in to the Hing area under the Hood.
You
may need to take the hood off to get to the seal. First pour water over
the area, if it comes in the car there is your problem.
You can seal it with any water proof silicone sealer .
