96 2.2 sonoma engine block identificatio and fuel injection identification. I am replacing the block in this truck and found many styles of block design how can I id the right block for this.

Fuel. Check fuel pressure. Replace the fuel filter. When you do this and if you still have problems. Then go after the fuel injection. It is under the plenum on top of the engine. This is a pricey part. I would replace the fuel pressure regulator first(still under the plenum) then replace the spider injection, as they call it. But when you get in there and you see the plastic injector lines broken, replace it all.

No difference, same engine, it's either called an electronic fuel injection (EFI), or a multi fuel injection, usually MPFI ( multi port fuel injection).

check for a vacumn leak, my buddy has a 96 dually that did that,found out it was his temp sensor to the computor,was showing a negative # when i tested it,he replaced it and it fixed everything! He couldn't believe it LOL

Did you hook all of the grounds up, and did you hook all of the connectors up to the engine? If you do not have spark then I'd be looking at the coil connectors, the grounds for the coil, and the crank sensor. Also look at the harness real good. You may have pinched or broke a wire somewhere.

i had the same problem with my 96 sonoma, just died anywhere at anytime, even happened to shop mechanics. They checked fuel and spark, there was none. Ended up putting a new computer on it and it has not happened again. The computer was not communicating with anything, just be sure that you get new comp. programmed to your vehicle. Had to send mine out and get done

if it clicks that means it's working. doe you have a throttle body? is it fuel injected?is it a distributor or coil pack that fires the vehicle?

have you checked the fuel pump relay? usually that is the problem seeing is that it fires when you use the starting fluid.
