Look on the ground where you park it. That much oil has to be a leak. Don't let it get 2 quarts down. Check it more often. Use thicker oil. Like 10-40 instead of 5-30. You could even try 20-50.
It is not normal for a car with 29,000 miles on it to consume this amount of oil in 10,000 miles. We usually change our oil between 3 and 5 thousand miles and thus may not notice small amounts consumed but certainly not 1-2 quarts. It is more likely that you are leaking oil, but if it is burning it, that is a real problem. If the car was pre-owned do a CARFAX. If it was wrecked, find out was was done. If the odometer is correct, this car needs to be inspected by a professional. I can tell you to look for unburned oil in the tailpipe, smoking exhuast, leaks from the oil pan and drain. Change the oil and filter and closely monitor the level.
Burning Oil!!! If its not burning carbon deposits and choking on an intake blockage. Both will cause severe power loss, though intake blockage is not an immediate sign of fatal engine problems. Power loss due to oil burning is a symptom of warn out piston rings and cylinder walls. This allows oil to seep up into the combustion chamber which at the same time allows the needed fuel/air compression to escape between the piston rings and cylinder walls. Either way, this is NOT a good symptom to experience. Is it really burning blue smoke out the exhaust or leaking out all the
wrong places like valve covera and front and rear seals? There is no
solution here except find out the cause of the loss and fix it.
