How to replace headlight buibs

I just replaced the headlight on my Mom's 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you have the manual for it, the instructions are in there. Open the hood, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the two screws on the top of the headlight and you're supposed to be able to just pull on the top left and bottom right corners (for driver's side light) and it comes right out. It wasn't quite that simple for me. I had a heck of a time getting it out, but it WILL pull out. There are four clips behind it holding it in that you can't get to. That's what makes it hard to pull out. Once you get it out, just turn the light bulb on the back of it and pull it out of the headlamp assembly. Unplug the bad one and replace it with your new bulb. Plug the new bulb in, insert it into the headlamp assembly, turn it to lock it in place, put the headlamp assembly back in, push hard to re-engage those annoying clips, replace the two screws,re-connect your battery and... you did it!

I don't know how to change the head light on my 1997 Jeep grand Cherokee. there doesn't seem to be any screws to loosen the light.

Hi Clint,

I just want you to know that you are not crazy or blind!

The reason you cannot find any screws is because you are dealing with a snap-together vehicle.
If you only want to replace the bulb, you can reach around the radiator support and twist the bulb retainer to remove it and the bulb. If you are wanting to replace the ENTIRE headlamp assembly, follow the instructions below.

REMOVAL

Grasp lower edge of headlamp lens and pull straight back (away) from Grille Opening Reinforcement (GOR) . Disengage lower adjuster pivots from lens assembly.
Grasp upper edge of headlamp lens. Pull straight back (away) from grille opening reinforcement (GOR). Disengage upper adjuster pivot from lens assembly.
Rotate bulb lock ring counter clockwise. and remove ring and bulb from lens.
INSTALLATION

Replace by seating the assembly in the lamp housing and turning the lock ring 1/8 turn clockwise to secure.
Align upper adjust pivot into headlamp opening and snap into place.
Snap lower adjuster pivots into place.

Hi, i have a 2001 grand jeep cherokee 6 cylinder larado, the car is not running hot, the fan won't stop running, i was told to disconnect the battery cable which i did so do i need a new fan?

you probably have a bad solid state fan relay. This is a very common problem with jeeps. You'll love where they put this one. It is located under the passenger side headlamp assembly, but wait it gets better. The entire front headlamp grill support needs to be removed in order to gain access to the relay. The good thing is there is a shortcut that involves cutting a small hole in the headlamp/grill support under the passenger side headlamp assembly. I have a photo that shows where to make the hole and can post it if your interested in trying to tackle this yourself.

How to remove a headlamp assy from a 1998 jeep grand cherokee

I believe the headlight assembly just pulls straight out. There are locating lugs on the headlight assembly which line up with corresponding lugs on the body work. There is also a problem with the headlight glass falling out as well. Replacements can be bought at the right price on e'Bay.
