If you take your car in for a 10000 k checkup they will check all fluids, tranny, rear end/front drive, washer, oil, radiator, etc. They will check all hoses and lines(vacuum). They will check all electrical and electronic components. They will check all operational functions, heater, AC, wipers...etc. In the long run it could cost you well into $600-$800 dollars.....that you don't have to spend. If your vehicle is running well and your satisfied with it, than the only thing you have to do is maintain it with an occasional oil change and tune up. Believe me, I've been working on cars, trucks, heavy equipment etc for forty five years. Save your money, especially nowadays and change your oil for 30 bucks, get a tune-up for another 50-100 bucks and keep the rest in your pocket, Thank you, Dana

Will the check engine light come on if an oil change is overdue?

No the check engine light is only for emissions issues. If the oil change is very overdue (10000 miles overdue) then that can cause emissions problems and the check engine light.
