You are thinking right.
Try the Fuel Filter first and see if that helps or fixes it.
If not then go ahead and replace the Fuel Filter.
Most Fuel Pump Warraties require a new Fuel Filter.
The Fuel Pump failure is obvious when the engine warms-up (fuel pump is working longer). The longer the Bad Fuel Pump works the more likely it is to stop working. Waiting allows the Fuel Pump to cool down and allows it to engage again.

Stalling after about 15 - 20 minutes

Change your fuel filter first.
If the problem is still there your fuel pump is going bad.

Stalling. starts 15 minutes later. runs good for a week.

O.M.G. THE BATTERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT 80-95 BUCKS. AND THE TERMINAL IS ABOUT 5 BUCKS TO BUY. TAKE THE CAR TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT CHECKS THE ENGINE CODES FOR FREE.......MAKE SURE THAT THEY CAN CHECK FOR PENDING CODES AS WELL. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A CRANK SENSOR. OH AND BY THE WAY, MOST AUTO PARTS STORES WILL INSTALL A BATTERY THAT YOU PURCHASE AT THEIR STORE FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEE.!!!!!!!!!!!!..... PLEASE FIND A BETTER MECHANIC. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. BEST OF LUCK. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED, CAUSE I AM REALLY CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT YOU FIND.
