I have a 1996 cadillac and when i start it it idiles wide open i think it is the idile control sencor can you give me a tip

start with fuel then spark plugs , anything else you need a scanner that reads live data to check the sensors for proper operation.

a/t means all control sensor and temputer control sencor it may be the map sensor or the idile sensor try them

Check for a vacuum leak in any rubber hoses you may have connecting to the intake manifold or plenum, etc.

remove and clean the IAC idle air control it is probably sticking and giving a low idle. or replace it if need be. it should idle at about 7-800 rpms, i think thats why it quits when you turn the wheel. it is putting more stress on the pump and the engine. check idle. Good-day !

Hi, this can be caused by a vacuum leak or a jammed idle air control valve. Your engine does not have a carburetor.

will the car stay running if you give it gas , if so then have your egr valve chked if it is stuck open it wil cause the car to stall

put a socket on the middle bolt of idiler pull and either tighten/orloosen will move the idiler pulley out of the way. then have another ratchet ready to get your other bolt off... might be easier to just take out that bolt on idiler pull and that will remove the pulley to?? your choice ! Richie

GO TO AUTOZONE OR YOUR LOCAL DEALER AND HAVE THEM PLUG IN THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. IF THERE IS NOTHING WRONG HAVE THEM RESET IT. AUTOZONE WILL DO IT FOR FREE. DEALERS WONT

maybe the O2 sensor

ok this sounds easy when you ran the vehicle the computer controled the idiling motor now that you replace the idiling motor the computer hasnt been reset to except the new parameters
once you reset computer this should bring the idle back down to its specified idle
you can also adjust back of gas pedel the idle cable and on the throttle body by the idling screw
