Occassionally, the front, driver-side door speaker does not work. I have noticed that the 'chime' does not work either, whenever this 'outage' occurs, (the chime shares the speaker with the audio system, not some other transducer). There does not seem to be a failure causation, or reason for it to suddenly work again. It has been happening for about 5 weeks now. I have tried to induce its failure/repair, by checking the wiring harness, and banging on various points of expected problems area.... Yesterday, it failed while I was driving. Usually, it is a noticed failure, or self-repair, at the start of use... And, usually, it 'solves' itself, between uses....
Well, time, patience, and past knowledge... allowed me to determine that the voice coil of the woofer was bad. I wasalmost able to blob solder at the coi, to get it fixed. But, it never got reliable. So, I shall replace both sides with better speakers.... I was able to hear the car's 'chime' in the tweeter, though barely. That led me on to disassemble the door, and learn more, like that the door is wired by a bi-amp situation....
