How do i shut my alarm off on my 98 jetta without a remote or where do i look for it otake it out

The key lock on the driver's side door is mechanically linked to a switch that turns the alarm on and off. You don't need a remote. Locking the door with the key turns the alarm on. Unlocking turns it off. I think the remote actually works through the same switch by mechanically locking or unlocking the door.

I've had a problem with mine intermittently setting off a false alarm as soon as the alarm is armed, which is about a minute after locking the door. It seems to be a problem with a switch in the trunk lid, because opening and closing the trunk is the only thing which relates to the problem appearing or not.

So my workaround, if the alarm is screwing up and I'm in a hurry, is to get out and walk around to the passenger side, open the door, press the dashboard door lock control to lock the doors, then close the door. That locks the doors without turning on the alarm system. To get back in I just use the remote or the door key.

The keyless entry system doesn't work. I have replaced the battery in the keyless entry, but it still doesn't work.

you need to get the key recoded with your imobilieser or alarm system, some times there is a reset button on the immobliser ( sorry cant spell that word ) you need to find the immobliser box and hold down the reset button while also holding down the lock button on you key

I have the key but the alarm remote is broken. How do i defuse the alarm?

the joys of modern cars is that it leaves little for us do unless you have the tools(the remote key fob)without it the car is next to useless.you CANNOT bypass the management systems so you must buy 2 remotes(if you dont have the spare)and then get the car recoded with the keys/remotes.(wait untill you find out how much they cost....ouch)loads of people get caught out buying a car without the remotes, and then take it out on us mechs.WE KNOW BETTER.WE GO DEAF.......

During a cold spell, the door lock button and remote stopped working. I checked the fusses but I can't figure out what is wrong with it.

it's probably frozen...doesn't take much if there's moisture in your door mechanisim.
Try lock deicer or "rust chec"...and spray in your latch area on your door as well as in the "key lock" area.

If your remote still doesn't work change the battery in it.

When i try to turn the car on the alarm goes off and the car doesn't start. help

If you can step up to the car and unlock it with the remote and everything is ok until you touch the ign. I'd say door switch. If you unlock the car, but fiddle around a bit before starting, the car has a senile moment and trips off.
But if you can't even use the remote then it sounds like the key isn't recognized by the alarm system. Try a different key, like the valet key- the one without the alarm buttons on it. If that doesn't work I'd say you have to drag the car and EVERY key to the VW stealership to have the alarm recoded

My 2003 sonata dont lock the door with power switch and the remote but i heard a relay'clik' but nothing happen the actuator in the door dont recieve a signal to lock the door and the 2 other

dear friend-if you say that none of the doors are working with the remote it possible that your keyless entry lost its code or the main motor is faulty.try recoding first.

My 1999 jetta remote has stopped working.

you should be able to turn off alarm via key in drivers door if not test all doors to make sure they unlock. if any door will not lock that door latch will need replaced if work ok then try disarming alarm from trunk key or from the passanger door. if that works, you may need to have the key recoded to the car.
