#1 cyclinder misfires is the code we get. Tried new plugs, wires, fuel filter, fuel pump and distributer cap and rotor. Pressing on the gas the engine sounds like it is backfireing, and takes a lot for it to go. Before this all started happening the speed dednomitor fell a the way to zero while traveling down the rode at 60 mph sputtered and acted like it would die, but then picked back up an drove normally except the check engine light came on.

The 96 97 98 caravan has an issue with bad instrument clusters where the speed is displayed.: the grounds and other soldering on the pc board get hairline cracks in them.it also causes the ASD relay to shut down the vehicle or.it can cause no start and stall condition.

I would do a compression test, and leakdown test to rule out a mechanical defect..then i would scope the cam sensor signal and check the instrument cluster for bad soldering

Put it at top dead center on number one spark plug and remove the plug make sure timing mark is on 0 on the crank then pull the oil fill cap the radiator cap and the air cleaner and apply air pressure to the cylinder, if you here air coming out of the intake you have a burnt intake valve, if you here it come out the exhaust pipe you have a brunt exhaust valve if you see bubbles in the radiator then it's a head gasket, if you here it coming out of the oil cap then its bad rings.

you also may have slipped a gear on the timing gear and it may be more than one cylinder, and the above guy is right about the rocker arm you would have heard a loud clatter, it is also possible that you have a bad lifter. Forgot to add this to my comment. Thanks for using fixya

MISFIRING AND I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY, DOES ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER? NEW WIRES,NEW PLUGS,NEW CAP AND ROTOR AND CAP, NEW FUEL PUMP, NEW FUEL FILTER,

Hi Tom:
No make or model given so don't know type of ignition.
Would it be a big deal for you to do a compression test?
That might give a hint.

On a 1990 Nissan axxess it starts up then it shuts up and struggle to turn back on what could be the problem.

This could be anything from bad spark plugs, wires, rotor, and distributer. It could be fuel delivery, or bad gas. I would start with simple things, change the gas filter, the spark plugs, take a look at the distributer cap and rotor and the spark plug wires. If it has been sitting for a long time, pump the tank out and put fresh gas in.

My 2000 astrovan has misfire shows code 3oo and 304

Have you cleared the codes since replacing the parts? If so, are the codes coming back? Does the misfire still exist even after replacing the parts? You post is rather unclear on this.

K2500 chevy 3/4 ton pick up. no power under load

IN your distributer under the rotor is a magnet and a pickup coil (the magnet is known as a pole piece) check your pickup coil for corrsion (green in color) and the module and also check pole piece for cracks in the magnet where the rivets hold it together. sometimes oil wicks up around the distributer shaft because of housing wear or the pieces just wear out over time.

Misfire on cyclinder

I would check the fuel injector on number 2 cylinder. If the injecter is dirty or not functioning properly it may give you the symptom of an ignition misfire.
