Oh yes,,,its the engine management light telling you its time for a service,,,,dont over look this, or the next thing to go wrong will be the engine fuel pump and if that packs up you will need to sell your sole to pay for the fix,,, this car needs to be serviced on time every time or it just wont last very long
so in short have a full service done on it fast

My 1996 Class C Motorhome has no power and black smoke is coming out of the exhaust

Petrol or Diesel? Black smoke is the engine running 'Rich'. The mixture of air and fuel has too much fuel and not enough air. When was the motorhome's engine last given a major service? Clogged air filters can cause black smoke and clogged fuel filters can cause a power loss. Are there any warning lights on the Dashboard?
If a service doesn't solve this you will need to move on to other areas. Parts like the EGR valve, (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), and the injectors. The DPF, (Diesel Particulate Filter), on a diesel engine can also cause these issues.
You could get it plugged into a diagnostic system or a OBD2 scanner to check for trouble codes but this will cost you money. Ask at a few different garages as the price charged to scan the system can be VERY different between garages.
Comment below with more details about the vehicle and I'll see if I can help you more.

Hi John, These days most oils are formulated to be used in both petrol and diesel engines but those formulated specifically for diesels should not be mixed. If your talking of a top up I suggest a flush with a good quality chemical and a lub service. If you have had a service carried out and changed the type of oil the same applies. Mixing oils can cause fast sludge build up which can block the filter, oil pump and galleries. These days most oils are designed to run both types of engine, but mixing is neve a good idea. Regards John

What does code p2459 mean?

Causes
- Exhaust leak
- Improperly installed or loose Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT)
- Low engine compression
- Corroed fuel injector
- Water in the fuel system
_ fuel filter or water seperator fouled.
When is the code detected?
The P2459 will set if the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the average time between completed regenerations is less than a calibrated threshold.
Symptoms- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P2459 Description The particulates in the exhaust gases are collected by the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). When the filter becomes saturated with particulates, they are incinerated by a regeneration process. The regeneration process increases the exhaust gas temperature, warning the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) first, the warning the DPF. The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the system with inputs from two Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensors 1 and 2 and the exhaust differential pressure sensor.

Had about 4 gal of diesel in tank and someone put 5 galons of gas in tank. Drove a mile and stopped for not sure how long. Went back out to start and would not start.

it all depends on how much diesel remained in the tank before the gasoline was added, and how new and sophisticated the diesel engine is. In a 2007 or newer clean diesel engine, any amount of gasoline will probably damage the sensitive emissions control components (DPF, OxyCat and SCR) and system. In older engines with much less sophisticated and "touchy" emissions systems, a lightly diluted (say 90 percent diesel/10 percent gasoline) mix would probably pass through with little or no detriment. It might simply cause reduced engine power, perhaps a bit more noise, and possibly a sharp warning from the emissions sensors that detect something other than pure diesel exhaust. It's high concentrations of gasoline that spell real trouble. Whether a modern clean CRD diesel or an old indirect injection unit, burning straight gasoline or highly diluted diesel fuel will almost certainly result in catastrophic damage to the mighty diesel engine.

Jag x type 2.0Turbo diesel, 2005

Same problem on mine was a block fuel filter (quite common). About £70 fitted by main dealer. I'd stay away from whoever told you the above and get a second opinion!

Read the owners manual or call the V.W. service department. sound like you need to clean the filter. If you ignore the warning more then 3x you will cause damage and it will be costly.
