All cyls misfiring. 97 honda. How many miles?Sounds like plug wires or a wet distributor cap. Yet if it is a Vtec The misfires could be occurring after the cams engage. Possible VTEC solenoid issue.
not always but most offen a check engine light is your oxygen sensor, will need to be replaced. most parts stores can read the code from the onboard computer and verify this.
A Check Engine Light means that a sensor somewhere in your vehicle has malfunctioned and the PCM threw a code. Now you need to go to Auto Zone (will do it for free) or to a mechanic shop (for a fee) and have the code read and this will tell you what happened to make the Check Engine Light come on. Then you will know what repair needs to be done. If you get the code pulled you can post it here and I will return and tell you what it says and how to go about fixing it.
Sometimes it's major and sometimes it's just a glitch that means nothing but you won't know until you have the code pulled. I recommend doing this soon.
maybe computer under the passenger side floor board. If the sport light is flashing, then it could be the speed sensor. This link can show you how to check the check engine light on this car: http://troublecodes.net/honda/ You need to find the blue plug and insert a jumper wire, then you need to count the blinks in the led lights, and then compare it to the trouble codes. Carefully pay attention to the blinks, some will be short and others long. Long I think are 10s and shorts are ones. Once you get the code, then scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the OBD1 codes, that is the one you need. Hope this helps somebody.
CEL Code P1762 is Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage. Make sure all your wires going to the sensor are ok, then if they are I would look into a new Sensor. Hope this gives you some direction. Thanks for Using FixYa!
Not sure? If it is the wrong code it shouldn't work at all? Try leaving the radio on for an hour without doing anything and then re-enter the code. If that doesn't work, contact your nearest Honda dealer.
