1. Key in 0 or off position.

2. Press and hold odometer button and turn key to 1 or acc. position.

3. Keep button pressed until any of the following words appear in display: "oil service" or "inspection", with "reset" or "re". For vehicles with "high cluster", the fuel amount remaining until next service is displayed.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 BMW X5, how do I reset the service indicator?

Hi,

You can reset your service indicator, as follows:

  1. Get in the car, close the door, buckle the seatbelt.
  2. Push in the clutch pedal and hold it to the floor
  3. Press the left hand dash button (the one that resets your odometer) and hold it down
  4. Put the ignition key in the key slot, and turn it gently (very gently) until the dashboard lights come on - the key will not click - if it clicks you've gone too far and you have to start again. Hold the key in this position. In five seconds or so, the dash will display "SIA" and some other characters. Do not proceed until this happens.
  5. Release the dash button (and only the dashboard button) and then press and hold it again. In another 5 seconds or so the display should begin to flash "RESET?" Do not proceed until this happens.
  6. Release the dash button and push it again to confirm. You won't need to hold it - the display should change immediately and your service indicator will display five green LED's.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this answer. Many Thanks.

How to reset the change oil light on my 2002 bmw x5

Try this procedure and let me know if it does not work.

1. Ignition key in the "Off" or "0" position.

2. Press and hold the odometer button and turn the ignition key to the "Accessory" or "1" position.

3. Keep the odometer button pressed in until you see the following words in the display, "oil service", or "inspection" with "reset" or "re".

4. Press and hold down the odometer button again until "reset" or "re" flash.

5. While the display is flashing, press the odometer button again briefly but do not hold it down this time to reset the service interval indicator. After the display has shown a new service interval then "END SIA" should appear in the display for two seconds.

If the procedure fails the first time then repeat the procedure and it should clear the service interval indicator.
