'93 Hyundai Lantra, automatic transmission has trouble changing up from 1st to 2nd, it tends to rev on a bit, clunks once or twice before changing to 2nd, other gears seem to be ok. Oil levels are ok and have recently replaced the transmission oil (yes the correct oil was used).

I have a 84 V65 Magna. When I get on the throttle in 1st & 2nd gear, it clunks (like it's skipping). It only happens only in 1st & 2nd gear. What's the problem?

I use to have the same exact bike. Mine did the same thing. My problem was in the transmission. In mime it was the teeth of my first and second gear were damaged. The bike was too old to invest the money to fix it.The person who owned it before me had miss shifted alot.I did it once and that put the icing on the cake.

I have a 2003 GMC Envoy XL with 150,000+ miles and an automatic transmission. Starting this week, the engin began to rev very high as it transitioned from 1st to 2nd gear. it's very sluggish. Once I get it...

Sure sounds like a slipping transmission to me. When is the last time you changed the transmission fluid? Before you go dumping $2,600 for a new transmission, I'd do a transmission fluid change first. If you do change the fluid, use Dextron 6, it's GM's new transmission fluid, much better than the fluid you have now. Not to scare you, but my transmission went out at about 100k miles, so you're doing good if it hasn't been rebuilt yet.

My 2001 GMC Jimmy 4x4 Automatic with 84K miles. It winds when I put it in reverse and I think I only have 1st and 2nd gear. Additionally it revs high, like over 3000 rpm, delays and then eventually...

It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.

Hard shift from 1st to 2nd, then 2nd to 3rd.

Dont think they changed it yet but the older chrysler units had a rod that went from the throttle linkage to the transmission (maybe a cable now)...If you lengthen the rod it will increase shift pressure and give you an earlier shift.

Reverse gear almost dead in 1998 Lantra auto..

You have a bad O-ring seal in the valve body of your transmission. The reason you barely move when you rev high, is because the trans fluid isnt going to the correct part of the valve body due to the bad seal. This should be a repair you can do yourself if you have any mechanical experience, OR a transmission shop may be able to rebuild the valve body for you.

2nd gear crunch

first of all you shouldn't be reving that high to change gears. that's too high. secondly if it's grinding only during the change from 1st to 2nd gear you may have a problem with the gears not being aligned anymore...ie synchronizers worn out, bearings worn out, etc. take to reputable transmission shop to get it diagnosed and repaired. it sounds like the synchronizers are a problem there. and you may have metal in your fluid now that it's been grinding which will affect the rest of the transmission. if you are speed shifting as in racing, you are not doing your transmission any good. you probably don't have a transmission built to do that if it's the original factory tranny... meaning you did a major NO NO to your tranny and are tearing it up speed shifting when it isn't built for racing.
