VW are bad about moisture getting within the coil and other components that fire the engine. It should still start even with a bad plug or wire, it would run like ****, so it makes me think the coil isn't firing through the plug wires. Get the coil checked out. Hopefully the fuel pump hasn't went out.

VW Passat 6cyl. seems flooded and wont start just repaired and ran great for 1 day I was told its because of carbon build up Help!
I haven't ever worked on a VW but i'm sure it shouldn't be to much different there is a chamber (hose) that comes from the air breather to the motor if you remove the part that goes to the breather and try to start it it might clear some out

i think u have air traped in heater core ,seat in car and push gas pedal up too 3000 RPM and hold it for1-2 minutes turn heat on and should come on good luck
