First thing to do is disconnect the battery, then put a socket on the belt tensioner and rotate counter-clockwise to loosen and remove the belt. next locate the timing belt sprocket case (in front of the engine, top middle of engine) remove the screws holding the casing on. when you have it off you should see the 2 sprockets holding the timing belt, be careful to line up the 2 notches on the sprockets ( to do this you must turn the engine crank by hand using a wrench or ratchet) by this time you should see the bottom of the casing that houses the timing belt. remove the lower case and u should see the whole timing belt and set up. hop this helps you out.

Engine light is on after replacing radiator fan. jeep liberty

Check the belt. You have a serpentine belt that you removed to replace the fan. Verify it is on, tight and in the right sequence around the pulleys. The light probably will not be fan related but indirectly from the belt or a component that was moved or disconnected. Start with the fan belt.

Procedure to change drive belt on 2005 jeep liberty

im assuming your speaking of a serpintine belt that has a automatic tensenior pully. yes, you can use a 1/2 inch rachet and there will be a place somewhere on the pulley to put it. now you wont have as much leverage as the tool you buy at a part store because it is smaller. hope this help. there should be a diagram right above the belt
