Trace the wires from this burned out speaker to the stereo, are they actually connected to speaker output or to 12V+ you could have a fried stereo/amplifier or miswired speakers. is one of the wires from the speaker connected to ground? at either end, this could also cook your speakers and amp/stereo...
sounds fine to me, the speakers are labelled + and -, make sure the wires correspond to this or your music will sound off, it's called negative bass, EG the speakers are pushing in different directions and cancelling each other out, you will notice it will sound more immersive and full when done properly (unless you alredy knew that)
There must have been a short to 12V or ground,
and if not your stereo has a dangerous intermittent fault -
are there any wires not connected and hanging loose, make sure every bit is taped safely away by cutting the wire and then streching the insulation a little over the end AND taping it
with PVC - theres no other explanation unless you have a VERY powerful stereo and quite low power speakers and had it as loud as it would go.
what exactly happened to the old speakers, did they burn out?
if so the stereo is at fault - I had some 40 year old speakers and ran 100W through them for years, it's hard to burn a speaker, thats why I think it's a short but if there is definitely no short then the stereo is dangerously faulty.

well radio still working. i reconnted the one that was smellin of buring and is working ok just afraid to leave it in. no theres only 2 wires and on the speakers theres only positive and a negative terminal. I tested the voltage at both speakers on both + and - and on one of them they have roughly 6v at + and 6v at - and the other speaker is a -6v on + and -6v on -. IS IT SUPPOSED TO B A NEGATVIE VOLTAGE???
there was no problem b4 my old speakers went about a month ago and i just assumed i needed to replace them???
