Good chance that the fuel pressure regulator is leaking gas and needs to be replaced. The fuel pressure regulator is located at the base of the throttle body and when it's starts to leak when the engine is running, it starts to flood the engine causing it to run bad and rich in fuel. The other common thing that would cause this is a faulty EGR valve, due to carbon build up and will need to be cleaned or replaced.
Do a fuel drop down test, test pressure line with gauge attached...leave for a bit...does fuel pressure stay close to where it was or drop off fast... if it drops off test the fuel pressure regulator by pinching off the vacum line...while running...pressure should increase...if it doesn't then replace pressure regulator.
Good luck and keep me posted.

It could be a bad accelerator pump inside the carburetor. The carb would need a rebuild kit.

I have a 1998 gmc 1500 350 vortec. just replaced 8 leaky fuel inj. now it has smoking exhaust no power terrible gas milage . and the plugs on one side of motor r fine but the other side...ALL 4 plugs r...

The 8 leaky fuel injectors might have been caused by a bad fuel return regulator. But, that put aside, the 4 plugs misfiring on one side can be caused by a bad computer or connections to the computer.

My truck idling low and spitting gas out exhaust

Hello Charles...I don't know what engine package you have in your ranger the 3.0 or 4.0 litre, but regardless, a diagnostic scan needs to be performed to determine the cause of the problems. Sounds like the Electronic Engine Control (EEC-IV) has stored hard codes. A self test can be performed where Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are transmitted on the Self Test Output (STO) wire located on the vehicle self test connector. The codes are in the form of timed pulses, and are read by the technician on a scan tool or the CHECK ENGINE light. With the information recieved the proper repairs needed to correct the problem can be determined, other wise you are just guessing.
Good Luck...i hope this helps and will fixya up.

You replace alot of things but you should replace the EGR valve and the throttle positioning valve also. I would start with the EGR valve
