Try starting it in nuetral. if it starts everytime then the shifting switch is going out. If nothing changes then maybe the ignition switch is going bad and just by chance it starts by wiggling the shifter.
If this is a manual trans maybe the nuetral safety switch on the clutch pedal is going out.

This is a picture of the ignition switch, This is the electrical part of the assembly. The key and tumbler are missing because you reuse you existing one.

This is usually what goes out when you turn the key to crank and it starts intermittanly. These cost around $50 or so

Why does my 1995 jeep cherokee not want to drive allof a sudden

the enigne is bad.
the tranny is bad.
the tires are flat
the fuel tank is empty?
brakes locked,
In 4wd on dry pavement can be a huge error.

does it start.? the engine? and idle correctly?
does it move correctly in 1st gear.?
does the transmission slip? in drive? or Reverse??
if you dont know what slip is , you need a mechanic or even a jr. mech.

My jeep jeep cherokee sport vehicle will not start some time until i wiggle the gear in park or netural

Vehicle will not start (I assume you mean won't "crank" / "turn-over") until wiggle gear in park or neutral - Replace the Neutral Safety Switch. First check terminal connection (plug)) if okay replace Neutral Safety Switch. The Neutral Safety Switch will not cause the vehicle to shut off while driving.
To diagnose stalling - next time it stalls and doesn't start check for spark and fuel. With no check engine light or codes mentioned in your post also indicates it is a spark or fuel problem (ignition problem/not emission problem (the sensors)). Keep smiling.

I have 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 limited. There are different 4WD modes available. I was wondering which 4WD mode is the most fuel efficient and how do you engage the different 4WD modes?

4 wd part time is the most fuel efficient becuase it only engages when the tires start to spin. to engage the different 4wd modes pull up on the lever next to the shifter and you'll feel it engage into to its respected modes. recommended you engage the 4wd while moving slowly except for 4wd low full time which you need to put the shifter into neutral before you can engage it. remember 4 wd low full time is needed when none of the other modes work.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XT with 4wd. I started to

sounds like you have a broken shifter cable.Go under the rig and shift the transmision manually.Put on the parking brake and on the drivers side of the trany should be the lever to move.Look for the broken part while you are there it will also help to locate the shift lever on the trany.

Once in Drive, Jeep does not easily shift back to Park

Try to check the trans mission gears of your 1995 jeep grand cherokee. The shift fork and the clutch sleeve of the trans mission is locking to the other gears .And then also check the starter motor and its solenoid.if the starter motor solenoid is destroyed or worn out replace .

Have 1996 jeep grand cherokee larado with chrysler 318 engine and auto transmission, all the time four wheel drive with I believe to be a NP249 transfer case...have not used the low gear range for...

4L is for ice or dirt only.
here is the wiki on this boxc

In 1996 the NP249 was replaced with the New Venture Gear NV249 transfer case. This added a mechanical differential lock to 4WD Low mode, making it much more durable for serious off-road use.

stay out of 4low (unless serious off road)

Don't know how to use 4WD on 1995 jeep cherokee

the jeep cherokee has 2 different types of 4 wd systems. the command trac has 2 wd, 4hi, neutral and 4 low. if driving on pavement make sure it's in 2 wd. it also has shift on the fly, up to 60 mph you can move the lever to 4 hi and it will not hurt anything. if trying to go to 4 low, be rolling less than 5mph and put the trans shifter in neutral and move the 4wd selector to 4 low. do the reverse to move back to 4 hi or 2 wd
