While driving my 2005 nissan 350z it will stop responding to gas

While driving my 2005 nissan 350z it will stop responding to the gas pedal and all of the lights on the dash (check engine, tire slip, ect.) will cut on. I can cut the car off and back on which has fixed it the two times it has happened. The car will respond to gas once in park but will only rev up to 1500 RPM. It has been cold lately, but it has happened once on highway, and once 2 minutes after the car was started (roughly one month between the first time it happened and the next occurance).

What you need is a "revolution sensor" I had the same exact problem. Replaced the sensor and everything is fine

SOURCE: clutch slipping

A clutch is usually adjusted from underneath the car if it's a mechanical clutch.

Your comment that there is very little play at the top indicates an improperly adjusted clutch. You should have about 1/2 - 3/4 inch of play before feeling the clutch in the pedal.

SOURCE: my nissan 350z sometimes stalls after starting

after i replaced the battery in my 2003 350z, it would stall immediatly after i cranked it on unless i gave it a little gas. I fixed this by cleaning the MAF and throtle body valve. Total supply costs were $15 and took about 20 minutes. My Z is not only fixed but runs smoother and cleaner.

Car will idle but there is no response when

This car uses "drive by wire" technology and uses a sensor to measure gas pedal movement. This sensor the transmits the info to the engine. So there is no mechanical throttle cable. You might have a bad accelator pedal sensor or it could have a loose wire. Take a look under the dash at the pedal and see if you can locate the sensor and verify it is still connected.
