Sounds like your timing is off when you placed the distributor back in or your spark plug wires are crossed. Start with the simple and check the spark plug wire firing order. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Cylinder numbers drivers side 1-3-5-7 radiator to firewall. Cylinder numbers passenger side 2-4-6-8 radiator to firewall. Distributor cap #1 is at 5 O'clock and rotates clock wise. Once that is establish to be good then make sure the cylinder 1 is at TDC with the distributor rotor at the #1 position. Good luck and hope it's a crossed firing order.

When you changed the distributor did it go in the right way sometimes people put it in 180 degrees around as it will drop right in then also take a look at the rotors position when you are at the proper firing position for 1 and check it otherwise it seems like a walk down as in going backwards on all your steps to see if its right

1989 chevy k1500 wont start after changing distributor and rotor

very good but did you check that the no1 piston was on tdc firing before you replaced the distributor . You may be 180degrees out on the firing order.

Where is the crankshaft position sensor located on a 1994 Cadillac Sedan Deville 4.9L V8? I need a diagram or illustration or something. Thanks.

Your 4.9 has a distributor, correct? If so, it does not have a crank sensor, per se, it has a hall effect sensor in the base of the distributor, also called a coil pickup, just below the rotor. It has a harness that goes through the distributer housing.cap and plugs into a harness, and is pretty easy to replace.

Turn on the key and listen by the fuel tank for the fuel pump to hum. A common problem is low fuel pressure. It will build pressure when the key is turned, use that fuel, and then the pressure drops. Kind of like when you're using a squirt gun that's getting empty.

1999 chevy pick up 1500 series 4x4 has spark getting fuel new crank position sensor back fires through throttle body wont start

the back firing sounds like to me that the spark plug wires are not in right position on distributor cap, firing on wrong cylinder, did you remove distributor or distributor cap?
